One major unpopular opinion I have is that I *love* Kate with Jake. This is her best pairing since Roman and I don’t mind the age gap. I’m sick of older men with younger women on soaps, but I don’t mind the reverse because soaps are so quick to minimize the sexuality of older women. I also think Lauren Koslow reads much younger and is still one of the more sexy women on Days. I’ll be sad when this is ended to throw him back with Gabby. They struck gold here IMO.

Lastly, Cady McClain has made me forget there was another Jennifer. They need to go ahead and recast Hope if they can do as well as they did with Jennifer. Melissa Reeves (and Kristen Alfonso) was checked out for years. It’s so strange how quickly she fit in which isn’t easy for a legacy role like this. I find myself looking forward to her scenes and actually paying attention. I hope this becomes permanent.

I like Kate and Jake as well. I don't think that's an unpopular opinion. I have zero interest in seeing Jake with Gabi.

I don't ever need Missy Reeves back. Cady McClain has been a great Jennifer. I forget that she's even a recast - she fits right in.

In true DAYS tradition, they should just cast Crystal Chappell as nu-Hope.

The Tripp and Charlie confrontation was lame. What a disappointment. The best part was....Charlie: What kind of name is Tripp?😂

the rest of the show was pure ff material.

The hero complexes were everywhere in today's episode. Not looking forward to seeing Steve and Kayla become bffs with Ava.

I thought the acting was on point though, but I was surprised. I thought Tripp was going to be furious with Charlie but he acted all good and noble.

I'm looking forward to their future scenes

I keep wondering what their long-term plans are with Charlie. Today's episode went a long way toward humanizing him again, but still, after his rape of Allie and drugging of Ava, it's hard to see how they'd be able to keep him around. Great acting by Mike Manning, though. He's totally believable as the resentful, neglected younger brother, even though he's actually 6 years older than Lucas Adams.

Agreed.

It would be a huge mistake to let Mike Manning go. He's an amazing actor. But I can't see how they're going to keep him around either. They already did the long lost twin thing with Brandon Barash, I don't want to see them do it again. And the show has redeemed rapists before, but I don't think they can do that in this day and age. But at this point, I think Ron's more concerned with redeeming Ava.

They looked like they were going to make out. Thru the whole episode.

We have Ben on the show as the hero of Salem. They can find a way to keep Charlie around.

Brain tumor time lol

"The tumor made him do it!"

Whatever. I'll accept it if that's what ends up happening. Just as long as Charlie doesn't become an arrogant SOB like Ben.

Today's episode really showed off how good DAYS is at writing for couples, because it showcased the very different dynamics between Chad/Abby, Jake/Kate, Sarah/Xander, Eli/Lani, and Justin/Bonnie. I was especially impressed by those short Jake/Kate scenes

Spoiler

although Gabi's appearance at the very end of the episode bodes a change in that. Loved the outfit they had her wearing!

Those scenes seemed a little out of character for Maggie, almost as though they were written for Victor but they decided to give them to her
