"Chinatown" is a brilliant movie: one that's as relevant today as it was when it premiered.

He will be missed.

Towne was a complicated man but a screenwriting legend. Shampoo, The Last Detail and the imperfect but often brilliant lesbian sports drama Personal Best (a clear precursor to Challengers) stay with me especially.

I do wonder if his Chinatown prequel series with David Fincher for Netflix will now happen.

[!@#$%^&*].

Doug Sheehan always reminded me of James Stewart with his boyish good looks, quirky sense of humor and easy-going nature.  No matter what kind of vehicle he was in - whether it was a soap (like GH or KL) or a sitcom ("Day by Day") or some cheesy TV movie - he always brought a sense of integrity to his role.  (Which is why watching his exit storyline on KL is REALLY hard for me, because you could tell he was struggling with that material, for a number of reasons).

I always wanted GH to bring him back (on a recurring basis) as Joe Kelly: still a gumshoe, still funny and charming, but maybe a little more weary on account of age and having seen it all many times over.  Ah, well.

    • Poor Philip. I appreciate how seriously his and Xander’s scenes were taken though. It felt like real drama and not like a big joke. You could actually feel Xander’s pain and anger. It adds another dynamic to the Kiriakis family storylines and I’m looking forward to the effects that this is going to have across the canvas. I can see them weaving Kate and Roman into this storyline as well. And it would be really nice if this somehow helped cause conflict for Stephanie/Alex too, especially because of what Alex did today. With any luck, Stephanie will be furious about it.  And I’m glad that Sarah has Maggie to confide in about her secret. I also liked seeing Steve and Shawn (and their matching jackets

    • TBF, I don't think we've seen her interact enough with the "have-nots" to know if she is or isn't. It's possible, but I don't think you can say that from her interactions with Eva and Silkpress.
    • You're right - though I did confuse his name with an actual actor who was on Dynasty.

    • "Might" is not "is". And I was talking about the specific case about her attitude to Eva.
    • But she can still be a priveliged elitist. She might have the same attitude to anyone from 'the wrong side of the tracks' whether they had an agenda or not. Nicole seems to be an outlier in her family. Her parents, kids and sister seem to think themselves above reproach.
    • Damian's clothes have definitely been a specific look -kinda reads 70's pimp to me . I guess it's a trend?? but it seems more suited to Holden. JR is 51  and I guess Damian is supposed to be a little younger but it looks a little odd on him in my book. But at least they're trying. The men's clothing has been bland/generic for years-either suits or basic casual stuff interchangeable  b/w them.
