I saw that woman. Made me feel so sick.

Doctor Who fans here (or Moonlight fans - there must be another one) may remember the wonderful Sophia Myles. Her father has passed.

My Trump-defending mother has been saying that the shutdown and border closings were just ruses for the government to track down, round up and detain illegal immigrants.  And I'm afraid developments such as this will only convince her she's right.

My fear: just as it took a celebrity (namely, Tom Hanks) coming down with the virus for people to realize the coronavirus was not a hoax, it'll likely take another celebrity or public figure actually DYING from the virus for them to realize the precautions indeed are necessary.

Well, the NY Metro area will be going into self-quarantine by tomorrow evening by orders of the three state governors.

Social distancing, which is slightly different, was what had done prior to this.

Even though we see these stories, they are very rare. Even in Italy, only 17 people under the age of 50 have died so far.

That's a bunch of hooey. People aren't really capable of social distancing in a sardine can like New York. They should have locked down 2 weeks ago.  California was the first to lock down, and they have 1,500 cases, while New York has 12,000.

Is California doing the level of testing New York is? That's a factor and I think NY has worked hard to make sure more people are being tested.
