She has recently mentioned frustration with not being able to audition or pursue outside work because of the Y&R shooting schedule and the commute.

 

LOL and nobody outside of soaps gives one iota of a damn about what happens on soaps or with soap casting. This is 2019. Half the people in the business don't even realize these barely afloat shows are still on the air.  

 

I dont know what kind of goofy thought it is to think an actor goes to an audition and they say "oh no we can not cast her because she got replaced by some lady on Y&R"....LMAO!!!!!!

This is why I actually did think the whole thing could be an April Fool's joke. Not because I give a single frack who is playing Phyllis. I just thought they might prank us because it just isn't that important and I don't expect any kind of professionalism in the soap world. 

 

I'm not at all surprised that they dumped GT though. We've seen soaps do this so many times over the years.  To the people in charge it's just business and they are ruthless. Look at the actors who have found out they were fired via the internet or the "Real" Greenlee ad campaign.

I think Y&R didnt know who Kelly Was. Although I think Cynthia Watros or Wendy Moniz may be better suited as Nina

Nina is a terrible character who shouldn't be recast with anyone.

It's been bizarre to see the stans insisting Stafford stomped in and demanded Gina be fired and demanded her old role back. LOL. That's not how this works ...

Or, in the old days, the newspaper. Here's a wild story. I read that when Jed Allan took over the role of CC Capwell on SB from Charles Bateman, the two (who had worked together on DAYS for a brief time and had remained friends) were on the golf course. Jed said that he hoped there were no hard feelings because he had been hired to take over Charles' role. Charles was shocked because none of the SB brass had even told him! Jed, of course, felt terrible but it wasn't his fault. Ouch.

Unless they are trying to eventually put Nina in Kevin's orbit and have a triangle with Laura. (Of course, Cady is married to Jon Lindstrom IRL.)

It's also possible that Stafford's exit is so abrupt, that the only option is to recast - at least to bring the storyline to a conclusion.... Though I totally understand the willingness to let Nina simply disappear, lol.

I love Cady so I hope this is true and I would be interested in a Kevin/Laura/Nina triangle.  It’s funny that about 30 years ago Cady was  involved with James Patrick Stuart when they played brother and sister (Will and Dixie) on AMC.  Although once the secret about Sasha comes out maybe Nina will finally be done with Valentin.  I doubt they will run a fourth DNA test so I think Sasha is going to have to confess soon or  Obrecht will blab.
