This morning I read that the Holocaust Memorial Twitter page said they’ve lost 35,000 followers in one day. They didn’t mention any reasons, just astonishment.  It would be my guess that this was loss of followers due to deactivated accounts.

It’s unlikely that I will be posting much embedded tweets, but this one seemed especially pertinent.

I'd love to say goodbye to FB, too.  However, that's how I keep up with everyone I went to high school with.  Beats the hell out of attending our class reunions, lol.

I guess it's possible that right-wingers feel safe to join or return to Twitter now?  Of course, that's presuming those 92,500 followers aren't bots themselves.

I really can't fathom the impact this takeover will have on the Internet.  We've been saying all along that Twitter doesn't represent the majority; yet, it's hard to deny that social media companies in general, and that Twitter in particular, have had a tremendous impact on our culture.  What happens if/when Twitter "goes away," or loses its' relevance?  Do we go back to chat rooms or something, lol?

Man, the world just keeps getting smaller everyday.

The DeSantis followers are most likely bots. The analyst said as much, without being explicit about it. If this deal does in fact go through (by October as has been hinted) as predicted, I think Musk doesn’t have a clue what he’s in for.

Susan Collins is already advocating for Trump to be allowed back onto the platform. Prepare for the possibility of Twitter to turn cesspool later in the year, if not sooner.

Having never joined MySpace or Facebook, I would be perfectly fine if Twitter went away tomorrow. I would probably be more focused on actual writing and other creative work.

Sometimes it feels almost like I’m overstimulated, so I wouldn’t have to even think about resisting the urge to check Twitter for the endless flood of tripe that usually ends up somehow seeping into my timeline.

I’d get over it.

How long does it take for the freaking Twitter data to be ready for download? I put in for the request days ago. I REALLY just want the data so I can deactivate for good. Because I just know Twitter will be a cesspool come fall.

They’re probably be backed up with all the requests. I have two accounts and I got a link to the download for one of my archives (which was 3 GB!!) and am still waiting on the other and I made both requests in the same day. Verification of my primary account was probably an issue because I had briefly changed my Twitter handle before changing it back.

I have decided not to rush. I am hearing that Musk may have already violated SEC rules. They may ignore it and facilitate the deal anyway but October would be the projected date for the sale to go through so I believe we have some time.

I understand that you’re anxious though. Keep in mind too, that, depending on how often you tweet, you may need to make sure you have a few GB to spare and depending on the speed of your Internet connection, it may take some time to download. For now, I am storing mine in the Cloud but I plan to move or copy to an external drive.

I lasted on Instagram for a few weeks before I decided to terminate my account. I didn’t care for it.

Could we possibly be that fortunate?

I hope so.

Musk is already throwing his weight around and causing Twitter employees to be harassed.

So I see on Twitter that ol' Elon is already harassing employees and accusing the lawyer for the company of being involved with fraud or something. So the sewage is already beginning.

The Twitter God must have heard my rant about the data because I got the download notice a minute ago. Downloading it as I type. Once it's done, so am I with Twitter, which both makes me relieved and yet sad that it has come to this. But when it heads into the toxic abyss and hopefully suffers the same fate as MySpace, at least I know I won't be there to be a part of it all.

Pardon me if I seem too philosophical, but I guess everything in this universe has to end eventually, including Twitter.  But again, I ask, where do we go from here?

Good for them, lol.  They, too, seemed to have forgotten that "free speech" does not mean allowing people to spread hate and misinformation that could potentially kill people.

    • I pray⏤and I know it's a big prayer⏤that Noel Maxam is somehow able to figure things out budget-wise so we can stop re-dressing existing sets as "new" sets. I know in apartment buildings apartments can generally look the same, but I'm over it on this soap. The last time he was executive producer was in 2011 when the original Horton Town Square was introduced, and we had some other sets get introduced around this time (likely pre-commissioned prior to his election), but I'm trying to have some hope he can pull this off. Let's [finally] see it.
    • Definitely not the best of RC's breakdowns. I don't know what it says that I could pick up his trademarks yesterday 30 minutes in without even knowing that he did one. There was something more...quirky/boardstroked...about Dani. Though I love the Dani/Nicole scenes, she was just a little too hip?...which made me think back to the episode when she broke into Bill/Hayley's house. Then watching the episode later on, I saw Hayley was being used as a punchline to the more interesting and relevant Bill/Ted scenes (see you all were just talking about how you hoped they got scenes...one thing this show is great at...what people want on this board...they already have the foresight for it. The reason I feel the DNA test will get mentioned @Cheap21 in more detail). And then poor Anita reduced for the most part propping up an album.    Needless to say, not my favorite RC episode. And since we are in aftermath week, I just smh. And barely worth a rewatch. BUT...was there good for me?    Yes. Thankfully, we still got good aftermath beats regardless of the breakdown.   Like I said, I really like the Dani/Nicole scenes. But I love their dynamic. And I was looking forward to the shoe being on the other foot once the SilkPress storyline hit climax. Quirks aside, it did not disappoint. Dani came in, and she came in fierce for her sister. I loved her attacking Eva. And then her being surprisingly introspective about Nicole due to her own experience. No wonder Nicole reacted to her being self-aware. So did I.    Meanwhile Bill and Ted finally met up. I'm kinda sad that we did not get that sooner given the scenes that played out sidepiece in the background aside. It might have been interesting to see more of their status as non-Duprees coming into the family explored.    And of course I can't leave without mentioning Eva vs SilkPress Sheila which was the highlight. Both of them were giving. And SilkPress was just so cold with it. I did love that Eva finally stopped letting her gaslight her. Sad to see the duo break up. But I did love that she went to Ted. So...the next turn begins.   And speaking of turns...uh oh at Kat and Tomas. I'm sure he won't be staying away from her. So most definitely, Kat vs Eva ain't over. It will be interesting to see how it goes now that most people know that Kat was right all along.
    • Nah I enjoyed it much more last year because of the Harry plot that ended during that time. Nazar being introduced and them. But this time it is so lame and nothing I like forward to anymore and I’m one of them long time fans. Of course I would be upset if they would cancel it but maybe take a year off or two and return refreshed
    • came across this quote that provides some context: “It’s hard to escape the cultural reach of the Catholic Church when you live in the Western world. It is, for better or worse, one of the load-bearing walls of our civilization. Its influence wafts from the church into the streets of civic life, the courts, the schools, the arts.”
    • Yesterday's show:   Can they give Ambyr Michelle the Emmy for supporting actress already?   Truly enjoyed the episode from Leslie and Eva, Eva and Ted, Nicole and Dani to Anita and Nicole.

    • Yes, I noticed after discovering Chandler was in several episodes. It's a shame it was canceled. I'm glad I was able to watch Chandler's episodes.
    • I'm Catholic, and I care, as do many who aren't Catholic. No need to be so nasty about it.. The whole episode was on Paramount Plus. That is where I watched it..
