Yeah, Kate is one of those that you love (thanks to the actress), but the character has been exhausted and played out. Any time they've come close to redeeming her in the eyes of other Salemites, she makes another rotten play. And the revolving men... wasn't Ian Buchanan paired up with her for a hot minute?

I hated some of the things Kate did to others  over the years, but I actually enjoy her now....maybe it’s the whole “I don’t give a F**k what others think”  persona she has, where she knows she’s disliked by mostly everybody but it doesn’t phase her...

she does seem to always get away with a lot Though...

I think Kate would have been written out a long time ago except the actress is so likable and interesting/fascinating to watch.. that I think that saves her from the chopping block.  I do wish the show did more to explore the Kate/Marlena dynamic... tbh

Agreed on the Marlena/Kate dynamic.

And yeah, Kate survives because of Lauren Koslow the way Katie still survives because of Heather Tom on B&B...  (though I'd actually *miss* Koslow if she left...)

I'm biased because I'm a big Lauren Koslow fan, but I think Kate is a useful character. She can (and has been) parachuted into storylines at random and enhances them. Koslow raises most of the performances around her because she has a lot of charisma and chemistry with those she shares scenes with. Obviously, if it wasn't her in the role, Kate would have been written out in and around 1998, but she endures.

Nice photo, but gotta love that Instagrammed blurry Barbara Walters special filter that older queens use to keep up with the young pups  :)

That filter makes Casey Moss look about 11.

Wow Lani is annoying, I love Sheila, and would rather see Sheila with Eli than him with Lani. Abe is sooo annoying being so judgmental of Sheila

This Rex/Mimi stuff was crap. They should have left them in 2007 and brought back my Cassie, undo Roman/Kate crap make them Tony and Anna’s and call it quits.

So much this!

And Alexis Thorpe seems willing. Make it happen Ron!

I've only started watching again for the last couple of years - what is Kate and Marlena's history, please?

Kate's original connection to Marlena was that she was a patient and eventual friend of hers in the '70s. I don't know if Marlena was aware of Lucas' being Bill's son. Back in the day, Marlena and Kate were close enough that Marlena was maid of honor at the first wedding to Victor (John was best man).

LMAO Lexie certainly did "do it all". I'm all for Nikki Wade coming on and stirring up boring Abe and Val (so dumb to just pair them and give them no real story; but when used in family stuff I like them, but I knew it would just be Val in place for Lexie, more or less, but Williams has a tiny guarantee so ... which is also dumb. USE THE WOMAN)

I respect Jones and Reckell's decisions, too, but I think they were made at a different time on the show. Sadly. I can understand and support them but I selfishly wish they were still popping in. I'd ignore Bo's death. There's a lot I'd ignore (and sometimes try to ...). I kind of feel like part of it was they weren't feeling valued and decided to leave (I think we've had more Stephen Nichols situations than we realize, but just an assumption - but at the same time, when do you/can you accept not being front and center; but I still think they can serve a solid purpose and not just be there for the sake of being there, but that's me). Jones was in and out a few times. I can't fault her for saying bye. She's had a long career. I just miss her on the screen. Reckell too. I get it. Didn't Jones, Reckell, Sweeney and Scott all say "bye" when Tomlin was around (Tomlin also seemed to have no use for Penghlis or Ashford)? It's so hard to remember who did who when we've had so many producers and writers come and go every year. I don't blame any of them from running from Tomlin and Higley.

I really wish they were both here under Carlivati and the new regime. Not perfect by any means but still. I think we take what we can get, sadly, at this point.

Renee Jones left the show when MarDar were head writers and the executive producers were Lisa de Cazotte and Greg Meng. During her last three years on the show she talked about how happy she was to not work much and having free time. Then during her exit interview it seemed like her passion for acting had died. I can't blame her. The last times she seemed excited about the show it went nowhere. They brought her back (after the first firing) along with all the other DiMeras. She said she had some of her best time on the show working with Joe Mascolo, Thaao Penghlis, William Utay and Steve Blackwood and was looking forward to working with them again. But during the summer of 2007 when the big Brady/DiMera Vendetta was being told, Lexie spent most of the time on the backburner until RJ was fired again, without an on-screen exit, her last episode was just as a background extra at Shawn and Belle's wedding.

A couple of months later she was brought back again and the show was gonna reveal that Theo had autism. RJ and James Reynolds did alot of press to promote it along with Dena Higley. I never really cared about that because it didn't seem like Theo having autism was really a storyline, because what do you do with that? I was more excited about Lexie going up against Stefano when the mayor, who was on his payroll, was being challenged by Abe running for office.  That was literally when Tomlin joined the show as EP and killed the story.

Paul's exit was decent. They put more thorough on Paul's exit than Valerie's.  I found it strange that Paul didn't share any final scenes with either Sonny or Will. Valerie never even got to live in one of those tiny hotel rooms . Most Salemites  live in😂 Tripp, Claire, Ben and Ciara are a tedious quad. The only reason they're so many Cin shippers is because RWS is HOT. For a homeless man Ben always looks well put together. Ben is sporting a nice haircut. His manbrows have been waxed. I'm SO Sick of Horton Square. I would kill to see characters in different settings. Poor Sheila is being wasted on stuffy grumpy old fart Abe. An interesting colorful character like Sheila is stuck with dullards.

It's deja vu all over again. VAW always gave a 110% with the dribs and drabs she was given.

Thank you! I'd love it if those two shared some scenes again.

I know, I was there for all of it :) She bailed before Tomlin came back. That was telling. But I think she was ready to move on. I can't blame her. But I miss her.

LMAO.

Seems like it.

She leaves and comes back but I don't know how long she sticks around again. I'm not as in the loop with the DAYS news at the moment as I used to be.

Well poor poor Sonny left because he couldn't take Will with Paul....lame as hell....and am I suppose to feel bad for Sonny? Because I am NOT. And Will is probably still looking for that sap and will realize later Paul has left town. I can't believe Will went back to dull boring Sonny....yawn...........

So if Sonny considers himself Ari's Dad, then why does he always take off when he thinks Will & him are done

He took off the last time he and Will were having problems. Right before Will "died". This is why I don't understand Will staying with him. When things gets tough ....he gets babied by his mother and then leaves town .  He such a wimp/loser.
