Steven Weber seems to just do the same thing in every role. I didn't mind him on Wings, he was a good contrast to Tim Daly and gave some energy to the proceedings, but you don't look at him and think you're witnessing a great work.

He was alright in that Jeffrey movie, although you could kind of see him acting. The '90s truly were the era of hey look how awesome it is to see these heterosexual actors playing gay what a noble sacrifice. It's fitting that the decade ended with Hal Sparks being one of the first straight actors to get sh!t for that mindset. To be fair to him he did say sorry and I enjoyed his work on QAF a great deal.

I wonder if Morgan Brittany counts?  She was an Aaron Spelling fave who frequently appeared on The Love Boat and Hotel on A LOT in addition to having a lead role on Spelling's short lived soap Glitter. She also was appearing on Dallas as Katherine Wentworth at the same time in concurrence to all of these Spelling show appearances. Later on she popped up on Melrose where her character was unrealistically married to Patrick Muldoon's evil Richard Hart, and then her character was blown to smithereens by Kimberly's bomb after calling Jane a whore.

and it was just a remake of the Golden Girls with Betty now being Sophia.

One actress that they tried to make happen back in the late 70's and 80's was Shelley Smith. I mostly know her from her many many many game show appearances as a celeb contestant. I liked her. Every series of her own she was in was cancelled and she mainly had to rely on guest appearances, game shows, and commercials. She reminded be of Cheryl Ladd.

Actually.. I didn't like Sue Ann Nivens.. very unlikable and one note.

The two times I thought she had range was when she was Rose on Golden Girls.. and the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie with Jennifer Love Hewitt 'The Lost Valentine'... otherwise she's kind of played a variation of Sue Ann Nivens since the 70s.

Betty is a comic genius if you ask me, but she often gets into one-note characters. I really did enjoy Sue Ann, but I don't think the character warranted a regular role, as it just became the same scene with Murray or Lou or Mary many many times (I did enjoy the episode where they went to her apartment - hilarious). I thought Rose was a good character in the quiet moments (like when they had the flashback of her birthday after her husband died), and in the early seasons, but in later years the character became reduced to mean-spirited jokes about how stupid she was. The show relied on those too much, to the point where, late in the run, they tried to create some angst over her having a heart attack, it didn't work for me, because I no longer believed the other women (especially Dorothy and Sophia) cared about her.

I think Betty's best comic character was Ellen - she had so many layers, and Betty's charisma/timing were featured at their best. I just wish we'd gotten more of her, but maybe it's for the best.

    • The Equalizer original series was not a big hit yet it became a movie franchise and got a reboot series. The Equalizer reboot lasted 5 seasons, so one season longer than the original series.

His social media/IMDb doesn't have his age but from some posts he's made, I'm guessing 1989 is his birth year.
    • Here's the timeline, as I recall it being published. The WGA strike was 5/2–9/27/2023 Annalynne McCord was announced as being hired in December 2023, for a one-year contract https://deadline.com/2024/06/days-of-our-lives-when-to-expect-annalynne-mccord-peacock-1235975806/ RonC's first scripts back from the strike began airing May 31, 2024 (around Konstantine & Maggie's wedding) https://www.tvinsider.com/1137709/days-of-our-lives-writers-return-15000th-episode-storylines/ Her first air date was June 19th 2024. The actress has said she was not told who she would be playing until she started taping. RonC 's replacements were announced July 2024, with his scripts airing through April 2025 Side note: DAYS social media team seems to be playing fast and loose with BTS videos, in terms of how far in advance they film content (e.g. their April Fools' Joke videos were clearly not filmed on 4/1/25), so we shouldn't assume anyone's current status, versus those who were there nine months ago.
    • April and her husband (Draper) are the "young leads" who tie all the storyline threads together.  They're normally in the center of the action.  In this particular storyline, Draper is the attorney who represents Paige Madison.  (The district attorney, Logan Swift, has given Paige Madison "temporary immunity from prosecution" if she will lead the police to the members of the Tobias Gang who stole the firearms.  But Paige mainly just ducks bullets from various gang members who pop-up to assassinate her.)
    • It's one thing to post about a soap's rumors or gossip, which in point of fact we've all done. It's another to present yourself as the inside source who knows something to be fact that's about to break wide, then backtrack and call it just Twitter speculation. Between those two extreme poles you have to commit to one or the other. If I got something wrong, I'd say it. (Nor would I keep playing insider after what I pulled with Drake Hogestyn, which should've gotten someone permanently banned.) And regardless, you don't open with this 'news' you don't actually want to stand by yet by mocking DRW's extremely valid concerns re: how the Trina character and Tabyana Ali has been marginalized and put out to virtual pasture ever since the day NAC left. Her playing out her current contract in a C-storyline with Kai does not change that.
    • Yeah, I thought it would be more explosive or heated and it was kind of standard.  Both can do more with the material.  I just don't think the writing was there.
