™ Me

But seriously, can you believe that ish? I can't. I refuse. At some point her time on the show is going to pass Dru's and that is just unforgivable to me.

I'm actually fascinated by actors who manage to stay on a soap for years yet make no real long-lasting impression. Maybe CK isn't a good example because some percentage of the audience thinks Christel Khalil is a good actress.

For example Aiden Turner was on All My Children for 7 years

Not sure who can be fire though ? Except may be Melissa Ordoway & Melissa Egan

At this point Khalil has surpassed every Hastings/Barber/Winters/Hamilton in longevity except Mamie & Neil.

I can believe AT was on AMC that long because he was a believable fallback relationship for just about every female on the canvas.

By the time the character was written off he'd been with almost EVERYONE. Kendall, Greenlee, Maria, Mia, Di, Anita, Erin, Annie, Amanda.

That's how I feel about Kelly Monaco on GH.  Or Kevin on Y&R.  Or Rex on OLTL.  Or any of Michael Easton's GH or OLTL characters.  These people are/were vets on their shows.  They survived multiple regimes.  As a viewer, they have always just been a waste of time for me.  CK's Lily is the same.  At least since she was a teen.

At this point I would love for her to be given something real to do, just to justify her longevity.  Anything.

Melissa Ordway is pretty but bland, Victor doesn't need yet another uninteresting child. Her scenes yesterday made her seem like a teenage working for her father and begging to not be an intern anymore. She's 30 playing some undetermined age. It's just all not a good look. These younger characters need definition. None of them aside from Hillary and Mariah have a thing that makes them them.  Not even Lily and she's been on the show for 15 years.

I wasn't watching when she was introduced but reading Chelsea's backstory and she's totally incomprehensible as a character. She came on pregnant with Billy's baby saying he raped her? And she did this multiple times with different guys? She gave her baby to Billy and Victoria to raise and then got pregnant by *someone* (I don't remember who), lost that baby and then got pregnant again and passed that baby off as Dylan's (and don't even get me started on this dude) when it was Adam's? And it's revealed that Jeffrey Bardwell, another unnecessary blight on the show, is her father?

These characters lack inner lives, goals and ambitions. They either need to be redefined or culled.

This is everything.  And...

She's a walking talking plot point baby incubator. I wouldn't want to write for  either

But, Kay Alden wrote that story line, I don't know why she can't write the aftermath.

Because she's there only as a consultant. Unless that changes, SSM is doing the writing and God knows how much or how little influence Alden has.

Wait.  When was Chelsea introduced?  Was it during Kay/Jack Smith??  Has she been on screen that long?  I thought Chelsea came on under MAB.

Chelsea did come under MAB, Hogan Sheffer and Scott Hamner. 2011. Nothing to do with Kay Alden and Jack Smith.

Indeed. I was merely replying to the Kay Alden comment. She can't write anything because she's not on the writing team

Hey, maybe they're following Marland's rules that everyone touts when they claim all there is to know about soap writing and waiting 6 months before firing anyone?

I love this post! Now please get started on Dylan! :D

MCE has appeared in 1 episode out of 10 this month, after that failed (and probably intentionally failed) closeness with Morrow. Elizabeth Hendrickson and Melissa Ordway are also quite low on that list.
