GH: January 2016 Discussion Thread

I saw part of the breastfeeding scene and then FFed immediately as soon as Olivia started getting defensive and aggressive.  First, if she is having a business meeting with the mayor then that is no place to bring your child.  Second, this is a place of business, once again no place to bring your child.    Does the hotel provide daycare facilities?   With the baby epidemic on GH the last ten years I would think Nik might  look into daycare as a way to save his company.    The Mayor, I have no idea if this has been discussed on prior pages, but I found her shock white hair a bit distracting.  My eyes were always fixated on her hair and it didn't work for me.

Sorry Q, I think you are wrong on this one. It is Olivia's place of business, so she can have her child there if she wants to. Women are gaining more power in the work places and challenging the rules men made up about what is professional.  And let's face it, they are socially constructed rules made up by men.

Breastfeeding (not bottle feeding breast milk) reduces the risk of colic and SIDs. Are women supposed to put their children at increased risk of intense pain and death to make the ignorant comfortable? I don't think so. I also don't think woman should have to stay cloistered at home just to please other people. If Olivia got a little assertive fighting for her rights, oh well. They are her rights under the law, which the mayor of all people should know.

I guess they were made by men, but to me not having kids around the workplace makes sense--especially babies.   There are a bunch of people there paying good money to have a pleasant lunch.  Babies cry and scream and nobody should have to pay for that ambiance soundtrack.   Breastfeeding is fine, but why is this baby in an environment designed for adults?   When the kid hits the terrible twos and runs around screaming will that be ok too for Olivia's patrons because she is within her rights?

Also (and I think this sounds like a more realistic option for someone to take) why didn't Olivia say "excuse me, I have to feed my child." and then either excuse herself to her office or ask the mayor if this would weird her out before proceeding?

Saying Brenda never had a kid LMAO. She had one with the Balkan. Go read her tweets lol

I thought her kid was with the Balkan's son not the Balkan. I remember being so annoyed they changed it from Dante because Vanessa didn't want them to go there, to some random who never appeared on the show.

Yes!  It was the never appearing Balkan's son, which was ridiculous.  Brenda's kid should be of more importance, but as you noted, VM interfered and it was garbage.

The plots on this show are being written for the 8th grade level. Wow.  The Val/Lulu stuff is embarrassingly bad as is the stuff around Mayor Lomax  and the magazine b.s.  It's very tweenage girl crap.  But maybe that's the audience that will increase the ratings.

The actress playing Andre can't act and neither can the chic playing Val.  I'm disappointed in the casting director's choices over the last year with respect to the younger set.

Raven I see it differently it's way more character driven anf just a better show. Jelly believe in telling a love story for women over 50 it's pretty sexy Julexis. The only writing team that feels compelled

Alexis is annoying she's always been thirsty for lame mobsters. Laura. Bobbie, Monica, Lucy and Felicia are over 50 and are hardly used.

LYNN HERRING ADDRESSES GH STATUS

GH's Lucy faded from view on GH last spring, and her portrayer, Lynn Herring, addressed her on-air absence in a statement to fans on Facebook. "I do miss playing Lucy but I am not interested in a line here or there or a day once in awhile," explained the actress, who said she was busy with her life on the ranch she shares with hubby Wayne Northrop (ex-Roman, DAYS). "If Frank [Valentini, executive producer] and the writers need Lucy for a story or a firm connection in the show then I will jump out of my saddle and come running for sure."

Good for Lynn. I can see how she would grow tired of only being offered seemingly random moments of screen time rather than an actual block of time to develop a story. Still, personally, as a viewer, a 1-day Lucy appearance doing anything is better than a month of Alexis front and center gushing over Julian.

I wish the current writers would pick up Ron's abandoned idea to have Lucy and Laura as business partners. Considering Genie's been back for weeks but Laura still doesn't have even the beginnings of her own story, this could make good use of both actresses and characters. (Okay, with these writers it would probably still fail. But Lynn and Genie could probably find a way to make a dull story better.)

I can't wait to see how you know who spins this as to why Jelly haven't rectified this ;) It started with ReRon but he's been gone lone enough Jelly could at least write for Lucy and bring back Jon Lindstrom and FIX the damage to Kevin and Lucy that Ron inflicted on them

Yeah, because super horny Alexis panting heavily over Julian in his black boxer briefs is so romantic. Every woman over 50 dreams of acting like a thirsty sl_ut for a preening peacock.

The degree to which the show has come to rely on the modest but marginal Julexis fans and couple to help prop the struggling GH up is embarrassing.
