Y&R: New Head Writer

Come on, Tristan Rogers is just trying to look out for his steady paycheck. That's that mystery solved. I can't blame him.

Jill Larson did work there not long ago and she had plenty to say about Pratt, including the quote I posted upthread. I wonder if she made a few calls or emails.

Are we really calling Tristan Rogers a "dumb ass" for trying to be friendly with the new headwriter/producer? I'm sure he knows what an ego Pratt has, especially since I think he was on GH briefly when Pratt was there.

The older actors will all likely be screwed so I'm not surprised if one of them pipes up.

No matter what any of these actors do they are at the mercy of what Pratt decides to do, which could be anything. As we saw with AMC, there is no telling who his favorites will be, what roles he will recast, who will get backburned and how many new characters he'll add.

I'll let Jill Larson take this one:

At [AMC] we had writers who'd say, right to our faces, "Character isn't important, and your character is going to do things you don't think they ever would. It doesn't matter. Do it anyway." This one man told me a story about how he was directing a film he'd written, and an actress asked him why her character was doing something, and he said "I don't know." She said, "Never mind, I've got it," and she went ahead and did the scene. He asked her what she'd done to figure it out, and she told him about an acting teacher she'd had who told her that when you're lost like that in a scene, you should just act like you've smelled something really bad - and he said "That's what you guys are going to have to do." Can you imagine a head writer saying that to a group of actors?

It would be great if all the cast and crew just didn't show up after Nov. 1 in protest of Pratt's hiring and JFP's part in it. Who could blame them? The guy killed All My Children and other shows he contributed to. Given that, how well is the fact that he has now been hired to EP and HW Y&R supposed to go over?

Tristan Rogers has barely even past his own welcome to the Y&R family!

There's one in every crowd. Sure, let's welcome to Y&R the man who destroyed AMC, Twisted, and all the other shows he's worked on.

Idiot.

Even if you know your new boss is an idiot, it's always a good move to pretend you don't. I can't see any reason to throw shade at somebody who is, frankly, doing nothing more wrong than acting like a professional at best and maybe a bit of a suck up at worst.

Good for you. Thanks for sharing. :)

The actors want to get paid, so several will swallow their pride and do the scenes

They could revolt en masse as a TEAM to save Y&R from more of JFP and now Pratt, and ensure their paycheck longevity. How many other soap related businesses/websites are going to remain if other networks follow suit?

TPTB set a bad precedecent with the way they "let" ATWT and GL fail. Now Y&R is going to do it too? The gold standard in soaps?

Hope is not a plan.

The cast and crew of Y&R need to take their soap back. Without brown-noser Tristan Rogers, might I add.

Why now? Why not when LML and MAB were in charge?

Were LML or MAB, on their own, as bad as a JFP/Pratt combo?

I don't recall online sentiment when LML was in charge, but I remember the last days of MAB.

They were the same, if not worse

Both LML and MAB had autonomy (both HW and EP); look at the destruction they've done

And you want more of that?

He seemed to like turning characters psycho and putting them against my sweet Kendall, the bastard. We mustn't forget his last major story where he turned Aidan psycho & obsessed with Kendall, taking her on the run & pretending to have sex with a clone of her to make Zach jealous. OMG! Just awful.

Not to mention that Aiden was partnered with that trashy women, "Kat" who's house was the old Martin house set redressed. I wonder when the last time that set was even used as the martin house?
