Are we really still talking about how much this hurt Abigail? F--l that ho!

Oh poor Tammy Sue! We're so lucky, we got this same flashback within the same episode. Clyde ruined her life in Salem although Im not quite sure how

Sami and Kate were so dumb to think that Stefano wouldn't retailiate

Friday felt really short, despite being super boring.

Abbi opening up to Marlena was bizarre wtferry.

Jordan, Clyde, Ben, Will and Rafe all in one episode = zzzzzzzzzzzzz

I have no team to back in EJ and Rafe, but Rafe really comes accross as a moron in all his scenes with EJ.

Kristen was on for all of 5 minutes, but she was fantastic. I loved that she read Eric like a phonebook.

Janet Iacobuzio proves once again why she is the worst SW on this show.

lol, I never even thought of that. Too funny

Thoughts for the week!

1) Things I enjoyed this week: Marlena's monologue to John in his coma..her dialogue was nice and I appreciated the deep history between the two characters AND the Hope/Aiden kiss. That was nice to finally see this story progressing. But we still HAVE to do something about MIA Bo. We're coming up on the 2 year mark here guys!

2) Jen Lilley/Eileen Davidson match up was a smart idea. Two great actresses and I hope they continue to share scenes for the rest of ED's return!

3) the Marlena/Eric twist is a good twist I think in the story... of Eric having to let Kristen to scott free and Marlena being right in the middle of it. I want to see Eric go OFF on Kristen though. I want to see him lose his temper and go off! I want to see some Emmy worthy scenes for GV!

4) Joe M is in the house!!! (Well.. maybe not "the house" yet... but he better be making his way back to DiMansion!

5) Tammy Sue flashbacks were ridiculious.. who is she? Dorothy Gale from Kansas circa 1910?? I couldn't get over her wardrobe! The entire wardrobe department needs an overhaul.

6) I agree that I'm tired of Nicole/Dan.. I'm really just tired of Dan bringing every character he interacts with.

7) And lastly... this week there was a PRIME example of what is wrong with this show... On Wednesday's episode two QUEENS of Daytime (Not just DOOL, entire Daytime legacies!) Deidre Hall and Eileen Davidson were in a scene TOGETHER - JUST THE TWO OF THEM..... and they were talking about Daniel Jonas.... there are no words. Get it together Days!

It is. At this point, I'm wishing that Daniel would revert back this lothario days when he first debuted on the show and went from screwing Chelsea to Kate to Chloe. Biggest mistakes DAYS did to this character was declaw him from being the town sleaze, making him a saint, making him Maggie's son, and giving him an equally over-propped daughter, Melanie.

The thought of these two [Mel & Daniel] being propped, hailed as saints by everyone in Salem, and sucking up more airtime in upcoming weeks is making my stomach churn. DAYS was my escape soap but I see its reverting back to a time when I couldn't bear to watch it.

I think Nicole had (notice the past tense -- had) the potential of becoming another anti-heroine in the tradition of Julie and Billie, women who possessed venal motives but with whom the audience could empathize nevertheless. Plus, I loved the fact that Nicole, with her tawdry past as a under-aged porn star, believed she could marry her way into money and class, lol. Unfortunately, once she got sucked into Daniel's orbit, all that was shot to hell.

Oh, I agree she looks great in that photo - on the show, not so much...

I really enjoyed the show in 2009 where she pretty much led the show with the babyswitch story while AS was on leave. The story was just ok, but AZ made it work and elevated it to something special (with stellar scripts from Richard Culliton). She led the episode rankings that year (http://www.jason47.com/days/2009episodes.html) and I think there is a fair case to argue that that story saved DAYS from cancellation rallying from back of the pack to tie B&B for #2 during November sweeps that year, a feat that has not since been repeated.

However I think the damage inflicted on the character has been so great during this Eric/Daniel fiasco, I'm not sure it could work again.

I don't think it's even an issue of potential per say, just that she was always written as an after thought or as an accessory to her romances. She's never been written as an equal to any of her scene partners and she always was a runner-up. She was a runner up to Chole with Brady, to Sami with EJ, her other romances: Lucas and Eric were barely noticeable and her affairs with Rafe and Daniel were more or less non sequiturs. Nicole hasn't been used purposefully in so long that I question her value to the show. I feel she hasn't had a real storyline since her latest baby died -- even though she had some potential with Eric. I think she is even worse off then Billie was. Billie under Krista and Lisa felt like she had a true purpose as a romantic rival and antagonist against Hope. She felt like a worthy rival to claim the attention of Bo. Nicole never found her true purpose on the show, which is why she feels like a dead-end now.

I still feel like EJ and Sami were the leads in that story more than Nicole was, to the point where they were the titular characters who were most effected by that storyline. Nicole while she ended up as the big "plot stirrer" who pushed the plot forward and had more screen time then them, wasn't the primary focus the story to qualify her as a lead. In that respect I agree with her Emmy nomination in the Supporting field that year. Everything Nicole did was on behalf of EJ and most of her actions were reactions to what Sami placed into motion earlier at the beginning of the story. So in that respect I would count Ejami as the leads in that story. I would say EJ and Sami were more the focus, and their reactions and actions played just as heavily (if not more so) to the plot as Nicole's. So, I still see Nicole as supporting, as she was directly reacting against things EJ and Sami did, rather then her having her own personal story that she lead. They are currently doing this with Kate too, but I wouldn't call Kate a lead in her current story either. I would say she is now supporting Sami in her current story, as Sami is the character this story is mostly about.

See, this is why I must avoid this and all other message boards in the future. Because I read your arguments, Skin -- and btw, you are 100 percent correct about Nicole -- and despite saying before that hooking up with Daniel has ruined Nicole as a character, the aspiring HW in me wants to leap up and pen the ultimate Nicole-falls-in-love story to prove to you and everyone else exactly what I mean about Nicole having potential with this show.

Sigh.

Damn you, Skin.

    • So I think I figured based on the end credits who is the script writer for each episode. Thursday's episode looked to have been script written by David Kreizman, and it was a well written episode that flowed well. Today's episode looked to have been script written by Henry Newman (son of Fran Myers and the late Roger Newman).   Right now, I've noticed improvements on the day to day scripts and that's a good sign that eventually the long term outlines that we will see in the coming weeks and months will be good.  Fingers crossed.
    • I have a very different view of Dano. For one thing, she like me, loves her little dogs. Another thing, of course she is effusive, outgoing but she is also very vulnerable & she used to have her Frank, her mother & Vivian who officially was her publicist (I think) but she was so much more. Now, they are all gone. Well, except for her always having a pair of her little dogs. But, if I were going to think in your terms, what I would think is "cool aunt". Because this lady is really one cool dame. Here is one of my favorite views of her https://www.instagram.com/reel/DGecq8rJS4w/

    • I found it to be a rather odd way to deal with a character departing for parts unknown.
    • Today reminded me as to why I’m a little disappointed in the name that the new Pope chose

Luckily, EJ and Johnny, and pretty much every other character saved today’s episode.  I didn’t expect Javi to be the one to save Sarah though, and I don’t mind it at all, because if it means that Javi is finally going to get his own identity/character, away from his douchy bf, I’m all for it. Javi’s scenes would’ve been a lot better had it not been for him. EJ and Johnny were the best part of today. Their conversation hit a lot of important beats and I’m so looking forward to seeing them play out. And now that EJ knows that Johnny is going to work for Xander, that opens up another dynamic to their storyline and to the Kiriakis family storylines as well. Tying them all together could be really good. There are so many story possibilities that can come out of this. And I thought Carson Boatman did a pretty good job again too.  I also liked that Johnny was there to comfort Chanel after everything that happened with Sarah. They’re so good together. But I do have mixed feelings about Chanel possibly forgiving Johnny so quickly. Hopefully, the question that she asked him at the end of today leads to more conflict for the two of them.  And yeah, still no changes in Alex’s character lol
    • Awesome, thanks so much for taking the time to grab this episode. I had a quick review of your rip because I was curious why it was 700MB and 30 minutes. The first 10 minutes of the episode is 3169 (opening credits at 5 minutes and again at 15 minutes). I thought we had the full HD version of ep.3170 on the YouTube channel, but it appears they added the wrong episode but labelled it 3170.
