Was anyone a member of this site! I wish he could come back and have a facebook page. He had a lot of classic stuff on his page!

When he shut the site down, I sent him an email and he kindly sent me the links to all the remaining files before he took them down--so I have about 10 discs of the .rm files saved, but still missed some I wish I still had (like those Agnes Nixon Another World episodes...)

I absolutely loved WoST and was devastated when it closed. I learned a lot from the boards there (though some of those posters were a wee bit mad) and loved the collection of music and videos. It truly was the best place to see classic soaps before YouTube came along. There's still a lot music files that were on WoST that I just haven't been able to find anywhere since it closed, mainly those great 70s P&G scores and various vinyl arrangements of soap themes. Also, those great AMC and RH bloopers.

I was a very active member (SoapFoxKirby), I remember ChrisB and Na'vell from over there, and I recall the WoST/SON rivalry and eventual truce brought about by the Trolla Spoof/ErikaCane4Strife drama. WoST was the best on Christmas, the presents under the tree that contained classic soap episodes.

I joined the last year it was up when the site celebrated the 50th anniversary of ATWT & EON. All those classic episode. wub.png I remember also being one of the last ones to win the monthly essay competition the site used to have, which would provided you with one month or year (I can't remember) of free access. Too bad shortly after, the site was closed down. sad.png

Remember...danfling? I think he had or has his own forum too. He was SOOO adamant that you couldn't call the show a soap opera unless it filmed in New York.

I wasn't on the forums, but I loved this site so much before you had to start paying up as I only a teen at the time and my parents would have nixed that idea. I also loved Snark Weighs In and the show they had together. I wish Snark would show up again, somewhere.

He posts here from time and time and still has a board though it's pretty stagnant at this point. He still holds to that conviction about New York shows. We've clashed many times on that matter.

WoST was an amazing site and I miss it terribly. I'm still in touch with a few of the folks from there. I was in contact with the site owner Brian a few years ago via Facebook. It was nice to catch up with him.

Whatever happened to Snark? He just disappeared. I think I asked Brian if he had heard from him and he hadn't heard from Snark in years.

Yes, there was a lot of madness on that board. There was Sean-Paul who claimed to be Todd Strasser, one of the writers from Guiding Light years ago. He kept up the charade for quite some time until he was exposed and later the real Todd Strasser surfaced when GL went off. And there was another member, whose name escapes me, who claimed to be one of the uncredited All My Children writers.

There was a real closeness between the board members. I remember when my cat got very sick in 2006 that a bunch of WoST members contacted me and offered to help pay for her medical bills. It was very touching.

Was he the one who referred to DAYS as The Hourglass Show, Y&R as the Bill Bell Show, etc.?

I was a regular member of WoST since the dial-up days. I remember my old computer freezing up as I'd try to see old GL themes for the first time in my life. I visited the boards regularly and joined when it became a pay site. I actually preferred the older version of the message board when it was all on one page, versus having it separated by shows. That's when I started to lose interest in trying to follow up on all the threads, and instead posted more here.

This site was the best thing for soap fans wanting to watch old clips, full shows, and themes before YouTube came along. Towards the end when the site wasn't updated for the last 2 years before it disappeared, I saved as many .rm files as I could of all the music themes and video themes files. As I check back on my folder of files, I think I accidentally skipped over some, because I don't have anything from the letter "O" (OLTL) through "S". Darn.

Yep. These days, you have to refer to OLTL as "The show set in Llanview" and AMC as "The show set in Pine Valley." GH is "The California serial set at a hospital." LOL.

Would you guys who saved the shows considered sharing them on here? Were they full episodes?

I never visited the site in its heyday but I do remember browsing it through the wayback machine and just being depressed that all of that stuff was gone.

They were full episodes, in segmented .rm files. I'll have to see and list what I saved--a number of them have, of course, since shown up on youtube, but by no means all. I think I first discovered wost soon after it premiered and at the time it was just *mindblowing* to see much of this stuff. Youtube has, of course, made me more blase, but...
