I would've thought Sara Bibel was a little above writing a thin piece about the injustice of OLTL 2.0 being recognized at all when GH was not, but clearly I was wrong as she has one up at DC. In her, uh, defense, I have never been a soap writer who went from that kind of money to being reduced to freelancing for fans.

Given that her soap column was pretty awful most of the time, I guess I can't be surprised.

I thought DC had moved beyond opinion pieces/screeds/catnip for the braying sycophants. They don't seem to do recaps anymore and when I went there a few days ago it felt even more like a ghost town than it had before. And their new site design looks like a video game review page from 2005.

That's not really what irony means, surely?

Not to mention that even many of the true believers said at the time that those "brilliant final months" were a pile of ass.

Wow, even most of the comments don't agree with her. Pathetic really.

I guess she doesn't remember that "Cartini's" OLTL had an oral sex scene? Of course *that* was brilliant, because they're the precious ponies of all time.

I never found her offensive, just boring. And I would've thought someone with her background wouldn't be that tightly interwoven with that scene. Mostly, I just thought she was above working for them or writing a piece about their Emmy win which is largely slanted towards the question of why they won when Ron and Frank weren't recognized in 2011.

I think there was a lot of good (or at other times at least fun) in the show's last year on ABC. There was also a lot of horrendous bad. It was peaks and valleys and the show ended on a peak, but we had to endure a lot to get there and they, once again, submitted wrong that year too - submitting Fraternity Row and not the big drama.

I never thought she was offensive, but she was a brown-noser, and not a very good one, because she didn't have the ability to holler and talk enough about how much she wanted Ron and Frank to lay pipe in her and which Y&R actors can she have sex with, which was where most of the soap "press" online seemed to be in those years.

I think that says more about EW being misinformed than it does about Brandon's relevance. Sad.

At this point, there are only 4 soaps left. They need to just go back to having an hour-long ceremony broadcast in daytime and leave it at that. A small part of the death soaps has been due to this need to cling towards relics of the glory days when daytime just doesn't have the means to do so anymore, thus falling incredibly short with every attempt.

I'm one of the few who enjoy watching the non-soap categories. I mean, it's the Daytime Emmys, not the SOD Awards. I do think it's BS that so many non-daytime shows get nominated (and win!) at this thing. Remember when Regis won for Millionaire?

    • I found it to be a rather odd way to deal with a character departing for parts unknown.
    • Today reminded me as to why I’m a little disappointed in the name that the new Pope chose

Luckily, EJ and Johnny, and pretty much every other character saved today’s episode.  I didn’t expect Javi to be the one to save Sarah though, and I don’t mind it at all, because if it means that Javi is finally going to get his own identity/character, away from his douchy bf, I’m all for it. Javi’s scenes would’ve been a lot better had it not been for him. EJ and Johnny were the best part of today. Their conversation hit a lot of important beats and I’m so looking forward to seeing them play out. And now that EJ knows that Johnny is going to work for Xander, that opens up another dynamic to their storyline and to the Kiriakis family storylines as well. Tying them all together could be really good. There are so many story possibilities that can come out of this. And I thought Carson Boatman did a pretty good job again too.  I also liked that Johnny was there to comfort Chanel after everything that happened with Sarah. They’re so good together. But I do have mixed feelings about Chanel possibly forgiving Johnny so quickly. Hopefully, the question that she asked him at the end of today leads to more conflict for the two of them.  And yeah, still no changes in Alex’s character lol
    • Awesome, thanks so much for taking the time to grab this episode. I had a quick review of your rip because I was curious why it was 700MB and 30 minutes. The first 10 minutes of the episode is 3169 (opening credits at 5 minutes and again at 15 minutes). I thought we had the full HD version of ep.3170 on the YouTube channel, but it appears they added the wrong episode but labelled it 3170.
    • I guess, according to Mike Manning in the Michael Fairman chat, he was almost Derek

    • I imagine Brad will blow through all the money in a year and come crawling back, just as Portia warned him not to.

    • That's a name I haven't heard in a minute. Thanks!
    • Well, since I'm still up unexpected past my growing-into-it bedtime. lol.   I finally got to rewatch Monday's. I even rewatched Friday's to take it all in. Now that we got the reveal and hit the climax of the SilkPress Sheila storyline, now we get to watch the aftermath and/or turns that come with its climax. So far, so good. Friday left us with three cliffhangers. And what I found surprising was how I felt about them over a rewatch.    I know some of you all felt a way about the dialogue during Kat vs Eva. I remember liking it more the first time around and it was nice for them to have these scenes to establish more of a frenemy vibe for them going forward. That still held up. But I found myself agreeing with you all about that dialogue. lol. Still, it was nice to have both of their POVs.   Second up was Silk Press Sheila vs the Duprees. And I was happy to get a brief spat with Dani in there. But the rest standouts for me was Anita and Martin. Haters can hate and given the tail end of the episode, I will agree to a fault, but Brandon has impressed and he was on fire on Monday and had great subtle work on Friday. And that subtle work made it all the better. Like I believe I said when I was watching...BC has a much better grip on his character and seems to be realizing what his tics are so has started to be able to know when to turn it up and when to dial it down. And for the most part (emphasis on most), he got that. Meanwhile, TT was giving fierceness, and I was here for every minute of it. Her reading SilkPress. Her being quip about it. Her 'BE STILL.' Ooooo she had a chokehold on me as Anita gave what I was expecting her to SilkPress. WORTH THE WAIT. I also loved Vernon's CHOOSE SILENCE. I wonder though if SilkPress will figure out Martin's condition from her observing Anita and Vernon with him.   And speaking of worth it...Oooo YES Nicole vs Ted was worth totally worth it. Oooooo I knew DD would nail it, and it was all so well done. The fight between the part of Nicole who is a therapist vs Nicole as a woman who wants to express how she feels. And being so angry. And how there would be moments when it would shoot out of her. And how she would restrain herself. But how she felt she should not be restrain. Just the levels of processing and layers. And DD played it all so well. I do wish Maurice gave just a little bit more, but overall, I thought he did a good job even if it was just Ted coming across as a deadbeat and not at all redeemable. And Kat being there for her mother was so beautiful.   Minority, but I love the montage though yes, it did run a little long. Given how the Duprees like to bond (and also as I mentioned from my own very recent family experiences), it did not seem out of place to me.     That said...let's see how the aftermath worked in today's episode. Overall. Cuz RC can be hit or miss.
