GH: June 2014 Discussion Thread

I just searched the transcripts and there hasn't been any mention of Lucas being a nurse or doctor. Bobbie's exact line was that he "had a great job in Seattle."

I can't believe I'm having to defend these people two posts in a row, but you are way off base on the GF situation. Just saying.

The tweet seemed pretty specific (in fact, a few peeps believe it), but I'm going to take your word. Sadly, you have an answer and moRon didn't.

Actually I am not. She went off to do a film and then care for her mom. GH invited her back but only recurring and she said no. GH cant give her a contract. BS

Not that I ever need to see GF again, EVER, but there are no more contracts for long standing characters who aren't already on contract. The only exception being, you come from YR and can bring viewers with you.

My aunt is an executive at ABC and my cousin and mate both work at the Prospect lot and I'm telling you it didn't happened that way. A bit of its true but most of it isn't. Trust me.

They stated that he was a nurse while he lived in Seattle. I think Bobbie mentioned it.

really? Bc I recall someone on here saying he was a doctor and I didn't think that was ever mentioned

IIRC, Lucas left town to go to medical school and become a doctor like Tony. That was where the whole doctor thing got started, years ago, some errant lines of dialogue. I thought they'd had Bobbie mention it here and there last year as well, but that may not be so. The bigger issue is that Ron has virtually no interest in Lucas beyond being sort of this plot-mover hunk for stories - he has no life, no job, no inner life of his own, no character arc. He just wanders around town bouncing between these dudes.

OTOH, I will never bash GH for choosing not to negotiate with Steve Burton. Dumping him was the smartest move this show ever made. It was essential to changing the fabric of the show. Just because it's a move made by Frank and Ron doesn't mean it is by definition wrong. The wrong part of the Jason situation, rather, is how they apparently had expected Burton to come back to the table, and when he didn't they forgot all about telling story with A.J. just because they couldn't have Jason.

It's not that RC doesn't write long-term story, because he often has long story beats in his head. It's that he usually forgets to write today's story or characters.

So they wont give returning GH actor/Actresses contracts but will give them to newbies and soap hoppers. Ughh

This is another reason, I love Days. They still offer their vets contracts

So she can be on once every 5 weeks? I'm with GF, there's no need to return for that. It's not going to turn into something bigger or better. They won't connect Laura to Dr O, Nina, Ava, 2 x 4, etc. They are tying the newbies to one another, so GF is right by not wanting those scraps. The ChiaScot/Lucy/Kevin thing literally played offscreen.

I can understand being in a crunch about who you can give money to - things were the same at OLTL - but it's not like this show doesn't have five thousand people and isn't adding three more a day. That's what leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

If someone wants to clear up the murky areas of the Genie Francis situation, I'm all ears.
