I'm not particularly surprised. It was obvious they didn't know how to use him. They wanted Billy Miller's Billy in the role and David Tom is not that. Plus you had the usual luminaries online crowing about how terrible DT was and how Billy Miller was desperately needed back (along with Michael Muhney, of course, for whom "nothing was proven").

I think he was decent in the role but he was obviously still skewing very young, and in the kind of stories they wanted him in with Amelia Heinle, etc. that was not going to work. That's what made him suffer in the part; he came off petulant. I wouldn't have replaced him, I would've re-tailored Billy's stories to his Billy. But they don't know how to do that unless it's one of Jill's favorites.

Same. It all comes down to the actual, on-screen performance, IMO, and I think DT was good. In fact, I think he was very good. He just wasn't very good with AH, and for whatever reason, TPTB look at that as a deal-breaker.

If BJ (yep, those are his initials) flops and BM still won't return, then mark my words: Billy will be killed off.

I could not stand him on OLTL and I was one of the (if not THE) most outspoken critics of this casting choice. But I've actually begun enjoying him as long as he's kept far from Victoria. And I feel the same way about every other character on the show. Just keep them away from Victoria. She sucks.

Scott Bryce mention reminded me of Allyson Rice being fired as Conner for Susan Batten...ugh.....these cast changes are just horrible....the story does NOT WORK because Pod Faux No Talent Victoria.

Why the hell would they do this?! David Tom was doing an excellent job and already we have Kelly, Phyllis and Adam are being recast and now an unnecessary Billy recast? I'm so over this show. It's very mediocre as it is and all of this isn't helping. What direction could they be taking him in? David Tom has won an EMMY as Billy, has chemistry with his family and love interests. He started at the climax of a huge story and didn't skip a beat. I'm beyond upset.

I thought he was doing an okay job but according to another article I read on this subject he was not well received by fans. I'm not a huge fan of recasts so I was glad they were able to at least get someone who played him before but this new person who is 40 years old?????

I agree that AH doesn't have this kind of juice, but finding guys to fit with her is a huge sign that she is the problem! Now, this below par performer will be sandwiched between 2 newbies? Too much to ask of an audience.

This is the first time they had to "find" someone to fit her if that's even the case because I don't believe it is. Just another reason for folks to bash AH.

I think that AH didn't want to do scenes with DT. She didn't like it. And JFP used that as an excuse to get rid of DT, who was really chosen by AMc.

And how do you know this? I would sure like to know because I haven't heard AH say anything negative about working with DT nor have I heard any backstage drama between them. Not saying that you're wrong but I'm just curious as to how you came to that conclusion.

Amelia was definitely clear about it in interviews. I thought it was very poor and unprofessional behavior on her part. I just don't think she would be able to get him fired. I think the show took a chance on bringing him back and then when it wasn't working out the way they'd expected, they went for one of their usual tools (looking for primetime actors who go to soaps when they have little choice) instead of trying to work it out.

What did she say in her interviews about DT?

I'm not a Heather Tom fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I'd love for her to return to Victoria Newman just to stick it to bitch AH!

I keep seeing people say this, but I think the chances of HT coming back just went from 1% to 0000001%. They just treated her brother like $hit.

Guess we got that shocking soap news after all.

She was probably tweeting that because she knew they were looking for a replacement. I'm sure she had to screen test with this new guy which means she knew they were looking to replace Billy.
