I thought that tonight was another great episode of Empire. Taraji continues to be great, I thought that she was in more of a schemer/plotting mode this episode. I thought that it was kind of amusing how her new assistant was talking about how it was wrong for her to try and upstage Hakeem with Jamal.

I also like how she wasn’t the least bit unnerved when “Halle Berry” was walking around in her underwear after she found out Cookie had arrived. I thought that was very catty of “Halle” lol.

I also like how Cookie seems to bring out another side of Lucious, who he was as a person before he made it big. That speech he gave with the talk show host, was due to Cookie’s comments on the news, that struck a nerve with him. I thought that their scene at the end of tonight’s episode was another example of him still having feelings for her. He gave her another one of those “looks”, like there is still something there between them.

I continue to enjoy Hakeem/Jamal’s relationship. I really like the way they talk to each other and their relationship as brothers. I love how they support each other. And we found out that Andre is Bipolar, I think it’s going to be interesting to see what they end up doing with storyline with him.

I didn't quite care for this episode the way I did the pilot, but it was still good, and I'm in it to see where it goes over the rest of the season. Andre is bipolar, but how disappointing to see how seemingly controlled he is by his scheming wife. P-U-$-$-Y now comes to mind when describing Andre. She threatened to have him committed if he didn't stay firm on his medication. Really?

Luscious new woman is a grade A bitch. Prancing around in her drawers like Cookie was going to be jealous.

LMAO at Obama calling Luscious. Chile please if this were real Obama would be unbothered.

I love Hakeem and Jamal's relationship and how is his sexuality is not an issue to him at all.

Yes for the preview tonight so many things coming up!

That was a wonderful second episode. I hope the ratings hold steady.

So Andre is bipolar. It sure seems it ain't good when he's off his meds. I can't believe that bitch Rhonda put on a bib to suck him off! And then grabbing his balls and telling him she'll have him committed unless he takes his medication. I don't care what you guys say, I like her.

Just like I like Anika. She's a basic bitch and she has no idea who the hell she's messing with, but I like her! I hope they reveal more sides to her and make her stronger, all the better for her to be an interesting rival to Cookie.

Porsha was funny. A bit OTT but I loved her hanging up the phone after Cookie threw her shoe. Speaking of which, that was awesome. Cookie is the Queen of melodramatic 80s gestures lol And her asking what "viral" is? DEAD.

That Kid FoFo was a mess. Glad he got fired!

I thought the interview/Jamal singing was a brilliant sequence. As was Hakeem getting so drunk at the restaurant. Among all the (melo)drama, the show seems to be able to bring up important issues in a sort of casual, off-hand way and make them part of the discussion. I love that.

I don't know what happened but Hakeem became hotter and hotter as the episode went on. He's one of those characters that constantly mess up but can't help but like.

Jamal/Hakeem hanging out and then performing together was beautiful.

Great ending! Cookie, find a way out of this mess, baby!

I think she probably realizes she needs Andrea mentally strong and on top of his game to hold onto the status and money.

For me as well, although Hakeem is coming up fast. lol

Yes, that was amazing. She also happens to be right. Listening to his wife does not make a man a "pus$y"

So far, Rhonda isn’t one of my favorites on this show, but I think that she does love Andre. I think that her threatening to have him committed, is because she cares about him. Her and Cookie seemed to get along okay, heck she treated Cookie more respectfully in this episode than Hakeem has treated her so far.

I was disappointed that he didn’t really have much of a reaction when the rapper was talking trash to his mother. He just kind of stood there while the man threatened and cursed at his mother. (Lucious acted trifling in that scenes as well), I think that Andre could have stood up for his mother. The only one that stood up for Cookie in that scene in the elevator was Vernon. I think he stood up for her, when she went into the office and was exchanging insults with the rapper as well.

I thought Hakeem looked better in this episode as well.

    • A new day in Salem… and a new day for Days.  I like the way everybody found out and absorbed the news about John’s death, and how they all eventually found their way to Marlena’s to offer their condolences. I’m not particularly sure why they waited until the next day to tell everybody but I don’t really mind it.  We finally got Roman’s perspective! His scenes with Kayla were one of the best parts of today. I’m glad that Roman is thankful for everything that John did for his kids. I agree with posters who said that he should’ve had a scene like this with John, but I’m happy we got this at least.  Julie was used very well today too. She’s definitely the best person for Marlena to have scenes with at the moment. Hopefully, Julie continues to be there for her. And yes, I totally agree with Marlena and Belle sending EJ away when he came to the apartment. I’m curious to see what’s going to happen to his and Belle’s relationship in the aftermath of all this. And, while I enjoyed most of Brady and Kristen’s scenes, I still think the ship has sailed for them. Hopefully, the aftermath of John’s death causes Brady to finally end this thing with her once and for all.  And, I see a lot of people were wearing some kind of shade of purple today.

    • Wow, I love that current and former actors are participating in this. I barely recognize Staci Greason! She looks fine, just very different. But I will be happy to hear anecdotes from her. I shipped RoJohn and Isabella hard back in the day, and I sobbed buckets in my dorm room at college when Izzy B passed. Honestly, I'm interested in everyone's stories. Drake seemed like he was well loved among the cast.
    • When she first appeared, I was sure she was setting Tyrell up for a prank. She was too much of a manic pixie dream girl- I wasn't surprised Tyrell also became suspicious. Now I'm not so sure. If Jessica genuinely likes Tyrell, it seems like a missed opportunity to not have started her out as a bully, then we see her gradually catch feelings for Tyrell.  The McBrides are definitely the "C" family of BTG. They always get last priority. There have been a few times where the Doug/Vanessa/Joey characters reference off screen conversations which seem too important to not show us. Like when Doug thanked Joey for giving him extra time to pay off the loan. When did that happen? Or when we abruptly moved from Vanessa/Joey at Uptown to Vanessa/Doug in the hotel room. The McBrides don't even have their own set - even though Vanessa is a realtor. It's a shame because I am a fan of the characters and actors.

I am also adjusting to KR as Ted but I feel that AM and MJ had way more chemistry as father and daughter than AM and KR. We saw Eva dream of having a real relationship with MJ's version of Ted for months so it's a bit of a bummer not to have that payoff with the original actor except for those scenes in MJ's last episode.  Something I noticed about Eva today is how she takes genuine delight in being a schemer. As badly as she wants to be a Richardson, she still has so much of her mom in her. It was jarring seeing her earnestly promise to steer clear of Leslie in her scene with Ted, then immediately switch attitudes when her mom showed up.  I'm very surprised with how quickly the accident story has been moving along. I was sure that it would be months if not years before people figured out it was Leslie on the motorcycle, not to mention responsible for the potassium overdose. I'm looking forward to seeing how MVJ and Guza avoid writing Leslie into a corner.  Finally, I have been loving the Articulettes story. Bonita Brisker was just the right amount of OTT - remember Sharon is supposed to be even more angry than Tracy is. If Sharon didn't come in swinging, people would say she fell flat. The way Sharon and Tracy describe the breakup is so Supremes-meet-Original Recipe Destiny's Child. I get the sense that MVJ is re-writing the Return to Love Tour as a roman a clef, and I love it. I'm looking forward to finding out what the secret they share is. If Dante Green is as shady as Berry Gordy was, it's something dark. If/when they go through with the reunion, I expect Dante to show up and claim to own the Articulettes trademark in a Lou Pearlman-esque twist.
    • Other than hanging out with Liz, all of Lucky's stories have been stalled out or dropped; the relationship with his son; his wanderlust. He hasn't been involved in any of the action/adventure or con artist stuff. I don't think he's even had a scene with Sidwell since the latter came to town. He's a real after thought. I doubt he's long for the show.

    • I started a separate thread for the same tribute, but of course it can be discussed wherever. doesn't matter where. Fyi  Jason Cook, Staci Greason, and Eileen Davidson will be there as well as Reckell and some of the current cast Thread for Live tribute to Drake https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/68987-days-currentformer-actors-live-video-tribute-for-drake-hogestyn
    • Seeing Nicole and Martin together reminds me of watching Alice with Mickey Horton in the 90s and 00s. The seem more like peers than mother and son.  The younger half of the cast (35ish and below) is playing younger, and the older half (35+) is playing older.
