Yes, I am very pessimistic about this paper-thin character conceived as a stunt cast for Cynthia Watros in a dull story that I find very uninteresting, especially since it's now lost the lovely and talented Ms. Watros. Cady is a great actress but she can't save that nothing character or the bad story.

I'm optimistic about a great many things in soaps; Y&R is not one of them because I genuinely don't think it's any good. Simply retaining the outgoing GH team that Ron and Frank replaced does not implicitly give it some sort of new seal of quality just because they're not Ron and Frank. They wrecked GH for years - they don't suddenly have new skills and instantly gain new virtues because they are not FV and RC. They are terribly ill-suited for Y&R, they have no understanding of that very particular show, and are turning it into some sort of weird, boring ABC-shaped widget on a fraction of their old GH budget which wrecked the ABC Daytime lineup. You've got people who worked under Bob Guza for years trying to emulate his house style on a show that's not built for it, while they too are clearly not ready for the big chair as writers. And JFP is lost at sea trying to repeat her extremely qualified "success" at GH. These people were terrible at GH and they're worse at Y&R, where that Fronsian culture of mediocrity disguised by a certain style had been kept away for decades - the MAB, etc. years were awful but they were not that brand of boring.

None of that critique either takes away or adds anything to the mayhem going on over at GH. Both shows are still very bad for very different reasons.

First of all, when did Cady become a FOJ? She's never been on a show with JFP. Cady has only been on World Turns and AMC--two shows JFP has never been on.

And I'm hoping with a new actress in the role, they're able to turn Kelly around and make her a more dynamic character. I'd really want her to become a vixen because this show desperately needs one.

And what Jill and her team were hired on to do was do a copy-paste of some elements of their ABC work, and so that's what the show looks like. I just don't care for it. Dayum! Let's parse my words.

Y&R is as much Y&R as Gh is Gh. Neither is what they were in their glory days. At least Y&R Is building on the foundation Bell created. It's not transforming on the back of another show and installing a stable of warmed over, renamed characters from another show and creating a new core.

She's in control of quite a bit, I think, and her fingerprints from her GH work are all over it as well as some from her past. I don't know that this was a "JFP choice" or a "Sony choice" so much as a solid choice for a bad situation. Not that it will help.

She's likely in charge of some things, but over and over people yell that any casting choice will be an FOJ and then they back away quietly when yet again that isn't the case. I'm not sure why it's still a thing at this point. Her hands are likely tied on a lot of these casting matters.

I loved cady as rosanna on ATwt which was a recast that she nailed and won an Emmy for. I gotta say I love Cynthia watros I don't why but I didn't love her as Kelly. I am hoping cady takes the role in a new good direction.

I like Cady. But a)she doesn't really treasure being tied down in the first place, and she doesn't project some kind of "let's have a hot, dirty affair" kind of vibe. Maybe she won't care how she's treated, because she knows from the get go that it's short-term (probably). But this undoubtedly is simply to wrap up story quick.
