For me, fourteen seasons of KNOTS LANDING could be summed up in this very powerful montage (just pretend she's singing on-key, okay?):

The show did a great job with music for emotions in that season - one of the scenes that always stays with me was Ciji singing at the club as Karen breaks down, because she's lost Mac.

This cliffhanger for season 5 sums up many of the themes of the show's best years - corporate intrigue and danger, Laura and Greg in the middle of it, Gary making dumb decisions, the complicated triangle of Val/Gary/Abby, and Mac's love for Karen, who is, of course, in peril.
