Y&R: TMZ reporting on Michael Muhney

Watching Tuesday's Y&R episode, where Victor reveals to Adam that he knows he killed Delia, really exposes MM's acting. This would have been the perfect opportunity for Adam to break down. Somebody has discovered this horrendous secret -- and it is the all-powerful father he despises. There should have been a few tears of fear mixed with relief that he's not carrying this secret by himself now. It could have been wrenching to see a grown man reduced to rubble. Instead, it was the usual dead-eyed, monotonous, snappy line delivery from MM, like he is sleepwalking through an audition for a CW show.

This is what his diehard fans say is the only thing keeping them watching Y&R? Please.

Maybe the scene didn't call for Adam to break down. That would have been out of character. He reacted the way I expected Adam to react.

I completely disagree. What Victor said was so infuriating that any "reduced to rubble" feeling was probably fleeting, if Adam felt that as a result of what TGVN said at all. When someone is protecting their child from an abuser, it is a completely different ballgame. I would have reacted the same way - no way would I have let that man see me cry - and I think it was very in character for Adam.

Big agree. MM is an unimaginative, monotounus, mediocre actor at best. Thanks, Cat, whenever there's something I really don't know how to put in words I can trust your posts to do it for me :D

Maybe breaking down in floods of tears would have been a bit much for Muhney's Adam. I guess I was just looking for the kind of performance Muhney gave when Adam realizes he is the driver who hit Delia. No tears per se, but definitely extremely shocked and emotional. Silently distraught. Despite all the awful things Adam has done, I have never viewed him as the devil incarnate, coldly indifferent to sufferings of others. He wasn't when he wrestled with whether to tell about Delia, and he wasn't when he posted online with Billy (another moment when he seemed almost shaken with repressed emotion).

And yet, when Victor reveals all and blackmails him using Connor as leverage, there was none of that quiet emotion threatening to break free. There wasn't the exhale of God, somebody now knows my secret. There was nothing behind the eyes, nothing in the voice. This is his son Victor is using against him! Again, I only bring this up because from his performance in November, I know he can bring something more to the table than just bored snark.

Complaints about the show have nothing to do with what happened with Michael Muhney, though.

Exactly. So are discussions of MM's acting ability. I don't care if he's the best actor on the planet or the worst. It has nothing to do with the matter at hand.

Maybe the directors didn't want that reaction. Im pretty sure if they did, they would have had him redo the scene over.

He cried a little. Mostly I thought he was shutting down on Braeden.

Nah, not with Victor, he played it well IMO.. Now if Chelsea, Sharon or even Chilly were in that convo, then yes, I can see Adam doin all u stated!

Wonder if Brett Claywell could be testing for Adam? He is younger than MM but older than CE

Tell me that soap fans don't deserve to be mocked. I don't care if those people are fringe crazies.
