SOD: Best & Worst of 2013

Awful, awful list.

I agree with everyone's statements about Cassandra's sex trafficking story on AMC being given the title of worst story. Yeah, it was depressing and painful to watch at times, but the storyline used rape as a violent, despicable act against a person that many people go through each day. This is to the contrary of other soaps. I also thought the story was well written and acted (especially for Sal being a newbie).

Also, Colby was NOT the worst villain. IMO that belongs to those cartoons Franco or Heather. Colby was a bitch when she showed up and whenever she was around Celia, but as soon as she found out what her best friend Cassandra had been through, she became human for her. Colby was a villain, but she was one of the most complex, multi-dimensional villains we've seen on a soap in a while.

Best example of what's wrong with the soap press: SOD.

Nah SID is the best example. I saw their list earlier this week and they don't even hide their bias. They made up random categories just to have GH dominate.

Eileen Davidson getting it was right. She was the queen. If I see heather Tom win another Emmy next year I will barf she's very good but please Eileen was a mega phenom. GH and DAYS are neck and neck for best show.

I'm glad they chose Eileen.

I do think when Colby first started, she was awful, but they did work to change this. Apparently that was not good enough for SOD. The whole idea that she shouldn't be bad because she was in a good place on AMC (five years earlier) is nonsensical to me. I think they have a very narrow idea of what a female schemer is supposed to be, and when Colby wasn't that, they chose her.

Someone like Heather, who is one of the worst-written characters I have ever seen on a soap opera, is their ideal.

was it the CBS or ABC edition bc if it was the ABC edition, well of course they are biased. GH is the only ABC soap left and the primary focus of the mag. That shouldn't come as any surprise. I don't why people make an issue about ABC SID favoring GH. Look at the title. It would be like someone coming on here complaining that SON focuses on soap operas and not some random primetime show that also gets discussed. I'll stand corrected if this list you are mentioning is in fact from the CBS version bc then yeah that will be more puzzling

These are all really good choices for the most part! I guess I am in the minority. Although I haven't read the details yet, it's a lil weird that they hold a special distinction for all 4 remaining shows - most disappointing, most improved, most entertaining, and best show. Did they really need a 'most entertaining'? And the fact that sleepy DAYS, who provides great background noise to fall asleep to 10 months out of the year, received this honor is totally off.

To each his own. I loved the Brooke / Bill / Katie triangle. Minus Katie of course, because I find her to be a dull, nagging shrew.

Days of Our Lives was the best soap on the air in 2013.

By FAR & not only by comparison.

DAYS was definitely the best soap this year. GH was a hot mess all the way through. B&B always seems the same to me and Y&R is definitely the most disappointing.

I wouldn't have listed Colby as worst villian because she wasn't a villian. I viewed Colby more as a vixen then a villain, and I would have named her as worst vixen LOL.

I think the trafficking story dragged on too long, and showed too many scenes of Cassandra being victimized when I think one or two scenes would have worked. The meat of the story was Jesse, Angie, and David, plus i thought that Zach, Lea, and Colby added some great support with even Dixie being effective as the therapist. I could think of a few stories that are far worse then that.

Did anyone really think that the Jack/Summer paternity story was the best?? Y&R has done this kind of thing before, each time worst than the previous time. What standards are these folks going by?

What standards are these folks going by?

Does the person writing the show have a penis?

If so, how many inches?
