Hollywood Reporter: Soaps Producer Ramps Up ABC Lawsuit: 'Mega Soap' Fraud Scheme Alleged

It's not a politician's anything. The product was good, the upper management and the funding failed. If I was going to be political about it I'd do as the lawsuit does and blame it all on ABC - I don't think it's about ABC, though I do think ABC has some [!@#$%^&*] to answer for. I do absolutely think the soaps worked in an online medium and can still do so, but they need to have significant capital. And they're gonna have to, because that is the only future.

You also need revenue to offset the money spent. I'm sure even PP was "smart" enough to make a budget and projected revenue would be a part of that budget.

I know I keep harping on this but I don't understand how anyone can say that ABC is blameless. Even if you table the asshattery with the Borrowed OLTL Characters (which I will henceforth referred to as the BOCs laugh.png ) the allegations about not running ads, not allowing ads on the GH FB page, not allowing guests to be booked on ABC talk shows (which I find intriguing and if true, really sad) and not turning over the URLs points to if not outright sabotage, at least a level of pettiness that is disturbing and pathetic. Personally I can't think of any legitimate reason for that behavior especially since PP's success wouldn't hurt ABC at all and, in fact, would result in revenue through the licensing fees.

This should get really interesting once they start doing depositions. Man what I wouldn't give to see those videos.

They switched from a good but small boutique firm in CA to one of the top 5 firms in the country. Still not sure the case has merit but they're serious about the suit- this could go on for a few years.

Good. I hope they stick it to them.

Now that I'm finally reading the complaint, I have to saw it's always hysterical when people try to seriously discuss the plots of soap operas. If this thing goes to trial the jury will be cracking up.

I know. I'm just thinking of some dentist who never watched any soap in his life sitting on this jury. I don't see how PP can make their case to non-soap viewers at all. I can't stop laughing at the potential arguments and rebuttal.

I don't disagree with this at all. And I hope PP sticks with things that actually have merit.

The only I can see PP having argument is abc changing stories or killing oltl without their permission but the 95 million lol. Again I am sure abc has the best attorneys in the biz. PP has to prove their case.

PP alos alleges ABC used its influence with Hulu to kill Hulu helping PP produce the 2nd seasons

PP acts like it would be hard to bring Cole and Hope back to life, same with Tea's baby, just say

Cole had to go into hiding with Hope, Tea's baby was taken by the people who had Victor

Also why is it someone like Crystal Chappell can get a web series going and sustain it, but PP cant

That may be true but good luck proving that.

Have you watched that [!@#$%^&*]? It's not a web series. It's a snuff film.

As for what PP "could have" done about those plot twists, it doesn't matter. If ABC was prohibited to make those kind of changes by their agreement and PP didn't sign off on it, ABC was in violation.

It isn't so much the action, it is the principle BEHIND the action. If PP doesn't halt ABC's violations when will ABC stop? It was good of them to file the suite when they did otherwise it would have been to late. If they didn't they may have pulled something drastic like recasting Erica on GH.

I will pay you cash money to stop talking.

Actually, it shouldn't be that hard to prove if TPTB at Hulu are required to turn over emails as part of the discovery process, which I assume they will be. If PP's lawyers are making this allegation, I'm sure they're prepared to back it up with witness testimony from executives at Hulu. Heck, if Hulu backed out of funding the shows, I'm sure Prospect Park has some sort of correspondance from them explaining that they're backing out and why.

The thing is changing stories without their permission doesn't constitute 95 million. Practically PP doesn't want to pay a penny for this venture and wants abc to fit the bill for everything that is ridiculous.
