Members greens_dupres
Yeah, I found her video really offputting and unnecessary to reeling soap fans at the time but seeing the comments now along the lines of----Oprah where were you when I tweeted you 45000 times and sent you 2 boxes of bars of soap every day for a month. Now you need me to save OWN? Well I won't" etc----I'm feeling forgiving toward O. These people need to have a seat. I feel similar to the people who moan about paying for Hulu Plus or iTunes because soaps should be "free like on ABC"- never mind the fact that they can;t figure out they are free on regular Hulu--- these shows have high production costs and neither PP nor Oprah owe you a thing. Members DramatistDreamer
This was just an announcement. I don't consider it a promo or anything. And I agree with KMan101 in the sense that there probably wasn't much time to do much more. Oprah has always been about her brand. It's basically what's got her to where she is, so no, I'm really not surprised that the announcement would be Oprah in front of the cameras...uh, have people not perused a copy of O Magazine before? I fear some soap fans will run out of behind the scenes things to kvetch about.
Members KMan101
They have to use to Oprah IMO. It's HER network, LOL. And besides all I keep reading and seeing is how she's credited for tweeting to save her network. And I used to merchandise magazines and pretty much Oprah was on every.single.cover. She sells herself so it makes sense. She has like a gazillion twitter followers. Was this link posted? It's just a quickie article: http://www.showbiz411.com/2013/06/26/why-oprah-wants-the-abc-soaps-tyler-perrys-soap-has-saved-her-network

Members allmc2008
I just realized that Melissa Egan is listed on the OWN episode of AMC on the episode description and Michael Easton is on the OLTL description.
Members Jonathan
It wouldn't surprise me if she shot this while she was vacationing in Hawaii last week. That's why it looks a little unpolished compared to the other OWN promos. Yeah, that was a year ago. Big no no.
Members cassadine1991
I think it would be cool if they did promos like these for AMC and OLTL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXvS2iepA5Q
Members Jonathan
The promos that ABC did with the Enrique Iglesias song Escape are similar to this.
Members greens_dupres
All these years later I can still see those promos so clearly in my mind- my favorite ever- somewhere in some box in my parents house there is a VHS tape with these that I refused to throw away even when VCRs became outdated. Zander/Liz/Jason; Leo/Greenlee; David/Anna- were there more? Natalie? Edited- I did forget Jen Rappaport found her way into them. I think that was one of ABC's last splashy summer promo campaigns if not the very last. Sigh PP should recreate those. Same song (I don't care if its dated)- AJ/Miranda, David/Cara, Jeffrey/Des/Matt/Dani, Cutter/Nat. I'll foot the bill Oprah & Jeff.

Members cassadine1991
I agree they should... and even put in the ones like the Sonny/Brenda/Carly and Jason/Courtney for other people.. I can see a Jack/Kate one similar to the Jason/Courtney one..
Members Jonathan
One of the only times I actually liked Greenlee is in this short promo
Members All My Shadows
OWN has always been on the basic cable tier here, as was Discovery Health before it. Oprah's fanbase isn't even that strong down here -- for a while, New Orleans's own Angela Hill Show got higher local ratings than O. But whatever, as long as I can view my soap on TV, I'm good. The scheduling is so unnecessarily confusing. So, based on what TVGuide.com has for Monday the 15th and Tuesday the 16th, it'll be like this (using central times): MONDAY 7/15 11am: AMC #001 11:30: AMC #002 12pm: AMC #003 12:30: AMC #003 1pm: OLTL #001 1:30: OLTL #002 2pm: OLTL #003 2:30: OLTL #003 TUESDAY 7/16 11am: AMC #002 11:30: AMC #003 12pm: AMC #004 12:30: AMC #004 1pm: OLTL #002 1:30: OLTL #003 2pm: OLTL #004 2:30: OLTL #004 And we can only assume the rest of the week will be... WEDNESDAY 7/17 11am: AMC #003 11:30: AMC #004 12pm: AMC #005 12:30: AMC #005 1pm: OLTL #003 1:30: OLTL #004 2pm: OLTL #005 2:30: OLTL #005 THURSDAY 7/18 11am: AMC #004 11:30: AMC #005 12pm: AMC #006 12:30: AMC #006 1pm: OLTL #004 1:30: OLTL #005 2pm: OLTL #006 2:30: OLTL #006 I kinda like it, because it gives you several choices of which timeslot you want to watch regularly (if you're watching live). After the first day few days, if you can only watch AMC at 11:30am and OLTL at 2:30pm, you won't miss an episode. I still think it would make much more sense to just put the shows in an hour block that airs three times a day, but that would mean taking the shows outside of the daytime ghetto, and...well, we can't have that, can we?! Members EricMontreal22
For all the mess of the FX Canada situation--I think they got it right schedule wise. Two daytime and one late night hour blocks each week day and then the weekend marathon. I just hope the weird repeat of the last two episodes doesn't confuse too much some of the less, umm, mentally fortunate soap fans our there... I can see them complaining straight away. Seriously though who is in charge of scheduling at OWN? WHat a bizarre mess--I just can't picture someone sitting at a meeting suggesting and agreeing to that. But wait, I thought the mini marathon was only the first day?
