GH50: Discussion Week of June 3rd...

And while that would be an interesting story, with a show that has done so poorly with gay characters, I think it would get a huge backlash (or maybe people would just call him brilliant.) I thought the actor was gay, just not as, umm, sassy in real life.

Is he in real life? I didn't know. Either he's trying to play GH's idea of a gay man, or he just can't act. I'm guessing both.

I'm tired of coming out stories, especially when the person coming out is a sycophantic jerk. These stories have been done over and over and haven't been done well in years. When Ron did this story on OLTL with Fish it was forced and it felt like it was being done solely because of the idea that any gay character has to have a coming out storyline.

I think it's partly how he's written--he's the sassy gay black guy, and I don't think the actor--good or not--could play it too differently. Still I don't think they're going for a coming out story--though it still seems, albeit it too obvious, that that's what his sister is holding over him--I suppose they could cast his parents and play all that but it would be beyond redundant for the reasons you say, and due to how the character is.

I tried watching today & just couldn't. Its like the show just has random people in random conversations that never move stories forward. I am done with this show. I cannot force myself to watch it. The show can't even hold my attention for 5 minutes. For 5 damn minutes! Lol

The only way this Felix story would be interesting is if he's actually not gay and this is all some sham and he's hiding who he is for other reasons, but the show isn't going to do that, and it probably wouldn't make sense. He's such an !@#$%^&*] I'm not sure why I should care about his coming out, especially when I struggle to believe the actor as playing a gay man. It's like watching David Alan Grier play a coming out sketch in Men on Film. I just don't buy it.

Your Felix hate knows no bounds. I can't stand him either! And this actor makes me cringe in scenes with any and everyone.

Speaking of gay characters. Just watched The Fosters. More teen oriented as all dis fam stuff is, but refreshing take on gay relationships. You guys who complain gays aren't represented should watch.

Diane...the less said about that opportunistic slag, the better

I so saw John and Todd interacting today.

The RC created characters were all over this show and annoying the hell out of me.

It's gotten pretty strong reviews, all things considered (meaning critics are usually extra hard on those types of shows) with a lot of positive spin on the lesbian aspect.

They keep replaying the show but I havent had the chance to sit down and watch the full pilot yet. Sherri Saum is one of my faves though

I couldn't believe Sabrina actually gave Britt Felix's room. That's when I'd throw both their asses out.

Roger Howarth is a very limited actor. He plays the same character over and over again.

I thought it was very well done. Not preachy or heavy handed. The story isn't really about the Lesbian Couple being a Lesbian Couple. It's about this blended family and the natural conflicts that arise from trying to fit all these different and complex characters into a real family. The family just happens to have parents who are gay. I really liked it a lot. Not sure I will keep watching it. I just happened to catch it, and I am so not into appointment TV anymore.
