JR (as we last left him on the ABC version) has always been self-destructive in a way, even if it ends up biting him on the behind later. Right now, this is a man trying to re-claim his old life. It's hard to gauge Bittle's performance against JY's until we have Junior either get his memory back or reveal that he has been faking it all along. To be honest, right now, Bittle is playing virtually a whole new character until such a shift happens. Same with Lulu in GH.

I didn't really like Young's JR at first. I didn't dislike him either. He was just there. To this day I consider Jacob's best run on a soap opera to be his first run on B&B. On AMC, he came on as Babe's whipped lap dog initially, and then they proceeded to make him a cartoon villain with the literal Lucifer mustache to twirl. I started rooting for his JR at some point in late 2004 or 2005 though due to the heavy-handed writing in Babe's favor. Jacob had some stand out moments in the role during and after that time, too, and he had really good hot romantic chemistry with both AH and CS. I got so used to JR being this crude mess with some warm moments in between and I accepted that. JR's character quickly became redundant though: whine, drink, attempt to kill, whine, drink, attempt to kill, whine, drink, attempt to kill, whine.

I like that they cast an actor that gives the appearance of a man in the role. That was a big thing that I felt was missing in the past with Young in the role. That may have played a part in the limits they placed on the character. You can now move the character all over the canvas in terms of business and relationships because the appearance has changed from that of a boy to a man. If they write this JR as poorly as the other JR you start to close some of these openings though.

This whole "Eric Nelsen is theater-trained, that's why his acting is this way" excuse doesn't fly with me. He has tons of on-screen credits and should have developed a style he can use for TV or an online soap by now.

I agree with people who think Ryan Bittle is better than Jacob Young already. I don't think Jacob Young looked like a boy though. To me Jacob Young actually looked super old. I also see the point about JR being a different character but I don't think the memory gap is as large as Lulu's on GH. I think it's fair to compare. JR is still feeling unloved by his dad and wanting to prove himself and make up for past mistakes. That describes a lot of Jacob Young's JR too.

Re: Chris B's comment about Paula Garces, there are a couple Pilar clips on YouTube, and she does seem stiff in those too, but I think it works in context there. Here's one clip (Pilar starts around 0:45 and again around 3:00):

I like Lea okay so far, she just doesn't have much material yet other than the "tough agent." I agree with Vee that Zach needs to have comeuppance. I already think Lea deserves way better than Zach.

Regarding why Zach is still involved, the mobsters are using his casino as a front for some of their illegal activities, which may have just been by accident but it does implicate him and involve him. And I don't have a problem with him continuing to stay involved and concerned after Jesse approached him originally.

I think JR will start using the steroids to quicken up his recovery.

I guess Dixie does live at the mansion, so that gives us: Adam, Brooke, Dixie, JR, AJ, Colby (upon arrival), Winnie (a live in, that's is what I'm going with), and house guest, Miranda.

It does seem weird that Dixie is at the mansion. Also, where is Kathy?

Do we have a new first airdate for Colby yet? I'm waiting for her mainly to see if she says anything about Asher. They've already bashed Caleb twice so it's not outside the realm of possibility she will bring up Asher.

:D I know this is personal choice, but I just can't wrap my head over someone pining for the non-acting of Asher (who, honestly, I didn't really mind but coming on just as the more interesting Damon was leaving--played by a better actor excentuated how green he was) and say that Eric as AJ isn't just so so but is downright horrible. But, I guess I'll live...

He was rarely shirtless (as Eric points out, AMC did not do much in the way of shirtlessness at this time, which is actually fine with me). I don't think people talked about his nipples that much.

Asher had a lot of potential as a Cortlandt and a new young character. Trent Garrett was great at being subtle but conveying his emotions still, as well as at humor (which they didn't give Asher enough of).

The problem was just that they rarely stuck long enough to a story with him. Which I blame Frons for. He revealed his dad was Caleb too fast (may once have been the plan for it to be Adam), then he stopped wanting revenge on Caleb too fast, then the triangle with Damon over Colby was cut short because Finn Wittrock was let go, then his bonding with Maya didn't go anywhere because the show was cancelled.

If he were on now, he could interact with Opal, Pete (cousin rivalry and yet respect), JR (they were allies), Dixie, and Colby right off, and it would be a lot more relatable and grounded than Bramwell Hall. I liked his scenes with Opal when he was there before. I also think there would be more story to be gained from his mother's relationship with Adam still, as well as perhaps some more exploration of the Latino side of his heritage or his time growing up in boarding school.

I liked Damon too.

LOL at the being devoured by wolves thing though! It's fine, I can laugh, I'm not that attached.
