All I can say is this: the reaction to Dame Shirley Bassey at the Elton John Oscar Party was electric. At the Vanity Fair party she was truly the belle of the ball.

I actually met her at my work place once. She was very eccentric and out there but she was also extremely pleasant and charming. She's definitely odd though.

All I can say is this: the reaction to Dame Shirley Bassey at the Elton John Oscar Party was electric. At the Vanity Fair party she was truly the belle of the ball.

Twitter was lit up after she performed. I am going to look it up on YT along with JHud. I heard she rocked it as well.

The "we saw your boobs" number was inappropriate. I wish they had done a quick pan to the reaction faces to the women he mentioned because Charlize looked like she wanted to kill him.

I also thought it was inappropriate. I don't know why sophomoric locker room humor is supposed to be a part of the oscars. So teenagers will watch? The Bill Shatner segment was fun... the flying Nun thing was HILARIOUS... and Seth is far more attractive, and a far better singer than I imagined. But the boob song, to me, just sucks all the dignity out of the show.

I've been away for the most part but I have to say I am totally with you. I have seen all the Oscar nominated films, and to me Zero Dark 30 and Chastain were 2 of the most pimped and overrated of the year. Her performance wasn't even the best performance in her own film(Clarke and Ehle were better) forget the rest of the field. She ranked 5 on my list of best actresses.

I was underwhelmed by the ceremony. Seth McFarlane wasn't bad. He really wasnt the problem. It seemed very poorly paced and structured. The best part was the fact that not one film dominated. I loved Amour, Life of Pi, Beasts of the Southern Wilde, and Djando , liked the rest, but I'm just glad they spread the love around. And I think Ang Lee is a fantastic director. What he did with Life of Pi was extraordinary.

I agree. I think it's a nice little smooth jam and it certainly has that sexy Bond swag that I love under the opening credits. But it's not a song that even exploits the full strength of Adele's voice. I DO like the song, but it's kind of like a watered down Goldeneye or something.

I really liked the winners this year. The show fell flat though. It was not bad at all, but not great at any time, it was just ok. The Oscar tribute was a biiiiig let down considering all the hoopla in advance. I actually thought Seth MacFarlane was much too tame. The short glimpse of TED with Marky Mark was much more tongue-in-cheek when all the rest of MacFarlane's numbers.

That's ridiculous. As soon as they said it was going to be a tribute to Bond music it was a no-brainer that Bassey was going to show up and stop the show. It's tough to think who is the second artist you would go to. I guess Paul McCartney or Carly Simon, but even they are not in the same Bond ballpark.
