HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

Aging AJ and Miranda this much is stupid. Cady barely looked old enough to pass off as JR's mother and now she's the *grandmother* of a teen? Who's going to buy that?

I guess if you're a GH fan, alls well that ends well. Frank and Ron scavenged the pieces of OLTL that they wanted, and OLTL will make do with what is left.

And maybe in a year (if the shows last that long) AJ will knock up Miranda and we will have Grandma Binks. (And when Miranda's kid can talk she will call Erica "my Grandma's mother" hehe.

Well I just lost a lot of confidence in Prospect Park. Maybe they were just milking ABCD for more money to have the rights to these characters. Doesn't sound like they know what they're doing to me. But I guess we will see.

OLTL will be fine, they have hundreds of characters they can bring back and did you really want to start with 3 recasts?

I think we're all putting the cart way before the horse here. We don't know much of anything yet.

I would have happily accepted recasts as long as we retained the characters. GH has other characters too. So forgive me for not jumping on board with the whole GH needed these characters but OLTL will be just fine without them. Especially when you've already made it clear you could care less about OLTL.

My drink almost came out my nose. Thank you.

Hopefully Dixie is just coming back as a ghost. IJS. I lost my use for the character many, many deaths ago.

My Laura Wright Tolerability Index has varied anywhere from 'tolerable' to 'love' to 'blinding rage' for almost ten years. She is a force of nature. I'm really digging her on the show right now but after her last boisterous interview I sometimes get the feeling she'd taser RH herself to keep him there full time. Shades of her repping for Bradley Cole as Jeffrey. In both cases she had a hotter pairing on the griddle that she wasn't into (DAM as Edmund on GL and Sean Kanan as A.J. on GH).

Surpringly I've come to really like LW and don't mind her acting as much. I find her Carly tolerable now that she's not a mob bootlicker

They sure are spending a lot of money on sets, paid writers, etc, for this all just to be a way to keep character rights.

Right, I have to go face the elements even if it is looking absolutely dreadful out there already. if I don't come back, please remember me to Chandler Massey.

Not at all what I said. They're spending money. Who knows how much? But giving away their equity for what? Doesn't make sense to me. So maybe they needed more money and ABCD is paying a lot to hold on to the OLTL3. I know they paid a buttload to get them in the first place. So maybe they have the rights for another year and paid just as much all over again. The crossovers/cross promotion thing? It's a sham. It will do more damage than good. Who controls the story? Todd and John go to Llanview to put the final nail in the coffin of all their ties there, and return to PC? What does OLTL get from that? And IMO, FrankenRon have damaged the OLTL brand enough. They can keep the characters AFAIC. Even if I think it's a bad idea. But the ties need to be broken. GH needs to be GH. OLTL needs to be OLTL. And they need to be completely separate.

All this nonsense about how much Frank and Ron care about OLTL has been revealed to be a con. They could care less about OLTL.
