September 13, 201213 yr Member Yep here's the full article http://www.tvmediainsights.com/2012/09/positive-results-for-general-hospital-at-2-p-m-et/ VETERAN ABC DAYTIME SERIAL ON THE PLUS SIDE AT 2 PM ET In the midst of the new syndicated daytime talk show premieres was the relocation of veteran ABC serialized drama General Hospital to 2 p.m. ET. Based on the 56-metered (overnight) markets, General Hospital is averaging a 2.3 rating/8 share in households this week (through Wednesday). And that, comparably, is up by 15 percent from the lead-in average (2.0/ 6) and 10 percent from One Life to Live in September 2011. Results among key women 25-54 (1.8/11) have increased by a hefty 80 percent from the lead-in (1.0/ 7) and 20 percent from One Life to Live in September 2011. The prognosis: So far so very good for General Hospital at 2 p.m. ET.
September 13, 201213 yr Member According to TV Media Insights (Marc Berman) GH is averaging a 2.3 through Wed. So it is still positive and up from OLTL a year ago. Yet still down .2 from Soap Opera Resurrection Day. But obviously three good days completely make up for decades of hemorrhaging numbers. After all look at that other soap. You know, the one that gained a few tenths of a point for a quarter so the network decided to save it instead of canceling it. Remember THAT one? What was the name? Oh yeah, I think it was called, Never Happened. Edited September 14, 201213 yr by marceline
September 14, 201213 yr Member Days just returned after the Olympics and their return day, Monday drew almost 3million viewers with a 2.2 rating and zero promotion by the way. Where were all the raves about the fact they did relatively well for a couple of weeks? I'm not belittling GH but they did get a ton of cross network promotion with their change and event. And like it or not Katie following them probably helped in some markets. I hope for the sake of folks who are enjoying the show it continues and lives a long life. But the way does anyone know how GH did yesterday following the 2.5 Monday? This. Exactly, spot on. Yes. Im happy GH is doing well - but they are doing it with more promotion in a week than they got in years, it seems. Can they keep it up when the promotion stops? Then again ABC seems committed to making The Chew/GH/Katie happen so maybe the promotion wont stop, thatd be nice.
September 14, 201213 yr Member If ABC were smart they'd continue the promotion. At this point GH can't be that expensive (certainly next to Katie which costs TWICE as much as a soap, yearly) and the ratings are good. Plus they own it and have THREE daytime talk shows to promote it on. Not to mention Dancing with the Stars, Jimmy Kimmel and even Nightline. That is free easy promo. And if GH crashes they need to worry about crossover viewers with their other daytime shows.
September 15, 201213 yr Member GH got a 2.2 on Thursday and Katie got a 1.7. So GH has done 2.5, 2.3, 2.3, 2.2. THat's pretty consistent if they can keep it up in that range. I wonder what Katie's ratings for next week will be like.
September 15, 201213 yr Member I highly doubt it will last, but even if I'm not fully enjoying the show, it would be nice for a soap to continue to stay high.
