It's a decent scene, but casting Jed Allan threw everything out of whack because he and Jane looked about the same age. The blocking with Lesli Kay sitting on a table making "awkward" faces didn't help.

She got a lot of [!@#$%^&*] for that, from Logan and I think from Marlena de la Croix. I felt a little sorry for her, as she was very close to Frances Heflin and I'm sure playing those scenes was not easy for her.

The whole thing always bothers me a little, because I do think Susan was a good dramatic actress under the right circumstances - I thought she did some fantastic work from 95-early 98. I don't think that type of hammy scene works for any actress and I don't know if she could fully commit to playing the emotions. For whatever reason it seems like that period was the peak of some Lucci hate in the industry.

Now this one I will fight for to the death! I've seen that at a million funerals, and frankly, she could have gone even further with it. I just think that "I want my Mommy!" was so nakedly psychological and out of tune with the front Tracy always puts up that it struck me in an uncomfortable way. Maybe I'll see its brilliance someday but I remember watching it when it first aired and thinking the writers were trying too hard to make a moment and it felt awkward.

You mad cuz your sh!t is bleeped!

There's a scene I just love which I don't think is on Youtube, when AW's Blaine (the superb honey-voiced Laura Malone) sacrifices her marriage to her crimefighting husband in order to protect him from a big mobster. He has no idea why she's breaking up with him and why she pushes him away. He briefly returns, asking if she's seen his green shirt. She says no, she hasn't, and can he please leave. He does, and we see her alone, holding his shirt, all she has left of him.
