ABC Renews GH

I don't know, three Gh actors have tweeted about the renewal and now NLG is saying that the actors who are on set right now are all celebrating together.

Not to rain on anyone's parade but I don't see anything that says GH will last past September. The writer says, "while I hear ABC is not ready to lock in its daytime schedule for next season yet, it would make sense to keep The Chew at 1 pm and put GH at 2pm as a lead-in for Katie..." In other words, nothing's definite as far as I can see. If GMA in the Afternoon avoids the putrid ratings that The Revolution got, then there's your Katie lead-in.

I thought it was just me, but I don't see GH locked in. ABC does not want GH but will keep it long enough to find a replacement.

As much as I adore NLG as an actor, no way will I give Cartini credit for this renewal. One year from now, we're going to be painting these two as the pair who lowered GH's coffin into the ground & threw a rose on top of it.

NLG has no remaining credibility so I wish she'd just shut up. Cartini, of course, will take credit when the reality is that The Revolution sucked worse than GH. How soon before the rapemances and talking dogs?

Of course they are, they dodged a bullet, I'll wait to see what it said if it's one year or not. Wont' we found out soon what ABC's fall schedule is?

Congrats! The 4 remaining soaps will all live to see another year :) May the daytime world be cancel-free thru 2013!

I will always give Guza the blame for that, but I agree that there isn't much reason to praise "Cartini," who have basically just turned a corpse into Weekend at Bernie's (and the ratings for OLTL in their run were so uneven that I can't say OLTL should have stayed, although I miss Viki, Blair, and what OLTL used to be). This is all about The Revolution being a ratings disaster.

Still, I am glad GH gets another year, and I hope that it is a great one.

My question is since ABC owns GH, they could in theory cancel it at any time. So really it may be on the fall schedule, but whose to say it will last the full year (even if it is scheduled for that long.)

This is why I don't understand why it's being called a renewal, when it's really not.

I was told ABC has plans to have the show off the air on January 4th. I want to support this show and tune back in, but I've loathed Cartini for quite a few years because of what they turned OL into. When I learned they'd bring their special brand of stench to GH, I was saddened and horrified. I have no hope that they will do anything good on this show, but they will write the OL characters (I refused to acknowledge that they are now GH characters...I REFUSE!) reasonably decent. We've already seen what they do to GH characters.

NBC used to do that with Passions. UNlike ABC with their soaps though, every year usually in December NBC would put out news that Passions got renewed for another season.

You're right & wrong, if Revolution had succeeded we'd be reading of GH's cancellation, bank on it. GH was only saved because the Revolution flopped so bad and made ABC daytime into an embarassment(along with help from the Chew)

I agree with much of this. In fact, a big reason why I thought GH would not be cancelled in 2012 was because The Revoulution always seemed like such a weak concept that was destined for failure. (The other reason why I thought GH would be spared was becuase ABC wouldn't want a lot of disgruntled soap fans derailing Katie's show.)

Cartini sucks and deserves zero credit for this renewal. However, I can't totally blame the actors for praising them, because ass-kissing is pretty much expected at work.

Yes they are further runing this show. The ratings keep hitting new lows, the production quality is going further down hill( where's that pic where you can see one of the cameras onscreen?), they are wasting money firing most of the crew to fly out their people, money is being wasted to cast OLTL actors, the music is worse, the lighting is too bright.

No, they aren't. If anything, they've made this show more watchable than it has been in years.

That's true but they aren't doing anything other than propagating the toxin that killed this show and continuing stories that were never well received to begin with while bringing on actors from OLTL to support those things. I can't think of one GH fan who was begging for this Franco story to continue, in fact when guza and Wolf were writing it was universally panned. Carvalati taking over should have dropped it and moved on. The Lisa murder mystery. Again same thing. And still Sonny, Jason, and Carly and their stories are the center of the show. So while it's not worse perhaps it's just more of the same with production values and editing thats worse with a faster pace.

Frankly, I'd rather that Frank Valentini use his cost-cutting measures to contribute to an entertaining show over Jill Farren Phelps overspending (while gypping other soaps in the process) on chickenshit CGI that can't even camouflage a sh!tty show.

I said what's remaining of GH. Cartini are indeed hacks, and their OLTL was an abomination. A bad reality show, if you will. Now, they bring their circus act to GH along with their pets with the express intent of keeping OLTL alive for as long as they possibly can. Yes, Frons, Phelps and Guza did their damage, but anything can be fixed if the desire is there. Unfortunately for GH fans, the desire to fix and properly end GH is not there. GH has not been great for a long time, but now, it's a complete joke. It will be a shame that OL will get a second ending and GH won't even get the one the fans deserve. It's a travesty!

Cartini don't belong anywhere near GH or should I say The Flintstones Reboot. They have no interest in GH whatsoever. They care nothing about the characters and mis-use the vets at every opportunity. I hate them! Good thing for rme is that I'm tuned out, so WHEN the show goes off the air, I won't miss it. But I will certainly skip OLTL's 2nd ending!

What's remaining of GH is due to Guza siphoning the quality into the shithole that it is right now. I'll maintain until the end that it is HE (along with his comrades Frons and Phelps) that ran this show into an emaciated corpse. Cartini is simply making what is left of it entertaining, which is fine with me since I don't give two shits about this show beyond seeing the OLTL characters that I enjoy.

I think it's just semantics. They likely got an extension and I suspect is not out of the danger zone. Of course no daytime drama is these days.

There's "renewal" and then there's "stay of execution".

Still makes me mad that higher rated ratings & demo wise OLTL got cancelled and GH gets to stick around.

An abomination, quite frankly, considering that GH should've been the first of the three ABC soaps to get the boot in the first place. Why ABC continues to have a hard-on for a show that died at the beginning of the millennium, I'll never understand.

Needless to say, I'm not the least bit thrilled with this news. The only bright spot in this bullsh!t is that I'll get to see my OLTL characters for a bit longer.
