GH: Discussion for the Month of March

Sonny and Jason aren't written as bad people (as with this latest story, which insisted early on that we learn Sonny was innocent in this), so I wonder how John will react to them. I guess he will purse his lips at Jason, since they will both want Sam, but I don't know if he will be the same with them as he was with villains on OLTL. That would make him too much like Taggart, who was mostly just there to remind us that Guza thinks cops are hypocrites.

She was pretty much chemistry bait on PC. She had chemistry with every male she was ever paired with other then Nolan. I also think she was hot with GV's Lucky a pairing that was quickly dismantled for those who are not to be named. The only people she hasn't worked with were the mob boys who suck the life out of everyone they are ever paired with.

Damn right.

The last time I remember that he semi-tried was when Vanessa came back around 2010. I miss Brenda so much.

That being said, I would give anything for the scene where Maurice just stops dead in the middle of the scene and looks for his teleprompter. That sounds hilarious. I remember someone posting about that in one of these threads a few weeks ago.

You know, I truly didn't mind the OLTL characters coming over to GH because I thought It might stir things up a bit. Get rid of the newbies and give their time to the OLTL actors. However, now that the OLTL characters are getting more airtime (and contracts) than the GH vets (Robert, Anna and Holly), I resent it enormously.

How would OLTLers like it if a bunch of GH characters came over to their show during their last months on the air and characters like Viki, Clint and Dorian were reduced to an awful storyline with hardly any airtime? They would hate it. And I hate it that the OLTL characters are taking over my show.

I have no faith in Frank and Ron now. I used to be a fan of OLTL but I can see they care nothing for GH and this is just about bringing their favorite OLTL characters over here to have a second life. It's not fair. I hope the ratings tank and they're out of a job soon.

Considering how much time was devoted to awful characters and meaningless plots (porn director Rick turned music producer, Ford/Jess romance, the stupid Dorian/David nonsense with Echo, the neverending saga of Rex/Gigi, halfassed Destiny pregnancy) that might not have been a bad idea

I don't think they have overtaken huge portions of the show, I think they are fairly well-integrated. The problem may be that they are mostly integrated with characters who are tired and overexposed (Michael, Sonny, Carly). I would have kept Robin around longer and had Starr interact with her. I hear people talk about the brilliance of contrasing Starr's loss and the loss Robin's loved ones feel, but the stories are so segregated, and it doesn't feel like we've seen that many reactions to Robin anyway.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.

    • Yeah when Jamey Giddens did breakdowns for DAYS, he would sometimes state in tweets that specific things were his idea that he had pitched to Ron.
    • I don't, since they've clearly incorporated them into Tomas' storyline, and I happen to like his tattoos, but his jackets not fitting doesn't mean they're trying to cover his tattoos. The clothing overall isn't the issue; it's the fit. And I expect(ed) more from Jeresa Featherstone and her team. Very disappointed. He's the only male, overall, whose costume irritates me.
    • "And OMG, watching the scenes of Roger's return in comparison...the quality in the writing really nosedived. The stupid mask." Very much agreed.  Having Roger hide behind a mask for weeks/months, with it culminating with him swinging in on a vine at Blake/Phillip's wedding....geez.  So juvenile. IMO, Guiding Light never did a good job reintroducing major characters, either from the dead or elsewhere.  Masked balls = awful.  Amish = awful. When Reva was brought back from the dead, she should've just showed up in Springfield as Reva, and informed everyone that she had been gone for years because she felt like it.  She had a four-year fling with some dude who ended up dumping her due to disloyalty. Josh would be pissed and declare that their love is not *always* but *sometimes* and he'd act accordingly.  Her kids would hate her.
    • Agreed. The Emmys next year are gonna be a pretty tough competition and I hope we get a Days sweep lol  Not only does Deidre deserve a nomination for these last few weeks, but I also think Paul Telfer, Raven Bowens, Carson Boatman, Dan Feuerriegel and Alison Sweeney have good chances as well.
    • It’s not about a lack of faith and trust in MVJ, it’s about a a lack of faith and trust in Ron Carlivati, who I think can be very sneaky and manipulative when he wants to be.  And, all that “He’s just a breakdown writer” talk never changed my mind about anything, because at Days, it was “just a breakdown writer” that gave us some of the worst episodes I’ve ever seen.
