November 23, 201114 yr Member I'm so upset right now. I even made a new signature to represent my love for these shows....I miss them already.

November 23, 201114 yr Member They are throwing in the towel, if they can't get funding now, why would that suddenly change a year from now, or even 5 years from now? They are throwing in the towel on broadcasting new episodes of OLTL and AMC in their current form beginning in January 2012. I refuse to believe that, after spending money for the rights to these shows, they will not try some other way to make money off them. We could see old episodes on DVD or online streaming. I'm not trying to start a debate or a rumor or suggest this will happen, just to correct what I believed to be a misinterpretation of the PP press release, as well as verify that *I* was reading it correctly.

They need to go the DVD route. I am sure sales would be great!

I've seen many networks get rights for shows for even up to like 5 years, only to air said show(s) for like 6 months and then drop them. It's not unheard of. PP would have been better off creating a new soap, and seeing if the AMC & OLTL actors would be on it
November 23, 201114 yr Member They have Search For Tomorrow too to put out on DVD. Yeah you're right and there's still so many Search for Tomorrow fans out there I think it would be a huge win if fans can see that show again or even the youths who appreciate the old soaps.

I'll be buying the DVD when it comes out. I was a fan but have vague memories of it.
November 23, 201114 yr Member Vincent Irizarry It's hard to ignore the profound irony in the last words spoken on AMC, after 41 1/2 yrs of entertaining countless millions, delivered by "Erica," who said, "This is not the ending I wanted..." My heartfelt sympathies go out to all, especially the incomparable, loyal fans, after all their years of support, to have to live through this 2nd death. This news will never diminish our gratitude to you all... TFP. I love this.
November 23, 201114 yr Member I think we need clarification here, because my impression is that if Prospect Park wants to stream old episodes, it still can. If Prospect Park wants to do an all Todd OLTL spinoff in three years, it still can. Prospect Park still has the exclusive rights for 10 years so no other company like Broadway Video can do anything in that time. PP is announcing they will not broadcast new episodes online starting in January. They are not giving up rights to do anything ever. Correct? I agree we need more clarification here on the situation b/c I think PP won't just let these two soaps rot and not make any money off of them. I think they'll at least air old episodes on their website or sell DVDs. Just b/c PP gives up now doesn't mean they can never make progress in still getting these two shows back up like you said they could do a spin-off. I think the only way this will work is if they work with a smaller cast of actors and do a spin-off and find a television deal. Maybe PP would've been better off finding a second company to help finance these shows if money is the real big issue here.

We don't know how much they purchased the rights for...this could make a brilliant tax write off for Prospect Park, Hollywood projects fail all the time and their failures bankroll many an IRS tax break.
