Members Khan
I'd rather see more campaigns thanking the soaps for the decades of entertainment they have provided viewers. Who knows? If enough (from a desirable demographic) spearhead these things, it might inspire advertisers to begin commissioning and producing new soaps strictly for the web. Know what I mean? Because, really, if soaps are going to transition to the Internet, it'll have to begin with the advertisers, just as it had back in radio.
Members DaytimeFan
And now the cancellations of AMC and OLTL and this debacle with Prospect Park has become totally insane. People suing? The insane usually crawl their way out of the woodwork to make these sorts of issues totally irrelevant. Mission accomplished. Members marceline
They want to SUE?! And are claiming discrimination?!! Perfect. Absolutely perfect.
Members JONNYSBRO
This is getting ludicrious. This is SHOW BIZ. If the networks cared so much about 50 plus demo then Murder She Wrote would be back on the air. Unfortunately if a show costs more then what it makes has very bad demos, u PULL THE PLUG. AMC IMO had absymal last year numbers. It was doing terribly. OLTL should have gotten more time its in such good shape but honestly what I can see is how many soaps have literally left air in strong creative and ratings shape like OLTL. They are going out on a high note, so if it has to end its not DOA. This is ridiculous. Its BUSINESS 101 and again soap fans are taking this personally without considering business. This happens all the time. THINGS GET CANCELLED ALL THE TIME for not performing or bad finacnail state. I will miss these soaps but I know the daytime world is changing hugely and these shows no longer in their current form fit today's TV landscape. I do believe soaps can return but in a totally more cost effective different form.

Members Vee
That's the most batshit thing I've ever heard since fans of Evangeline on OLTL tried to mobilize the NAACP when the character was written out.
Members chyti
Not that I had a part of this, but contacting the NAACP about the lack of minority representation in daytime soaps operas especially when they have a department that follows this very issue and suing someone because they cancelled your favorite soap are two very different entities. Some people need to take a deep breath and move on, there are real problems out there that needs to be handled in this economy a cancel tv show is not one of them. Members marceline
Plus the NAACP has an image award specifically for actors in daytime television. I'm pretty sure they can ditch that category now though. Or just change the name to the Angie Hubbard Memorial Award
Members DRW50
They'll just keep giving the awards to random Y&R actors.

Members MontyB
Ha! I didn't know they tried that. Oh well, all the Vangie [!@#$%^&*] was ridiculous. It's how I gained some enemies You can't rationalize with the irrational. LOL. Whatever!! Personally, I think folks should sit back and enjoy OLTL for these last few weeks and when it's all said and done, move on with their lives. As Eric83 said, it's just a TV show. Members marceline
In that case they should just mail one to all of them. It'll be like my niece's t-ball team where they all get awards just for playing. Seriously though, I really wonder if the NAACP will finally scrap that category. There's no point to it anymore. Members DRW50
I keep thinking about that year when they gave a soap award to Tatyana Ali, who had appeared in about a half-dozen Y&R episodes the entire year. After that it was tough for me to take it seriously.
Members marceline
I think it would be nice for the organization to give a sort of a final set to Darnell and Debbi as sort of a Lifetime Achievement awards, do a "retrospective" of black actors on soaps (which should take all of five minutes) then call it quits. Kristoff St. John can get his when Y&R finally goes under.
