I'm almost sure she will talk about it in her newsletter which should come out next month (december.) you can check it out on her website Erikeslezak.com. In a way i do feel sorry for her because she was perfectly willing to continue playing Viki for years to come. I don't know if she'll get another job, but it's like she's being forced into retirement. My mother was forced into retirement after over 30 years but for her, by the end she didn't like what was going on anyway. She ended up getting a "new life" by babysitting the grandchildren a couple of days a week for a few years. it helped her make the transition. Now she likes being retired. I just hope that ES's two kids give her grandbabies so she could find that "new life" if she wants it. Maybe she'll do theater, i know she always thought about doing it. Maybe we'll see her at the Tony's or the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade one day.

It's funny that PP tried to get Youtube, when their demographics are different. Many of Youtube's most viewed channels feature Asians, including nigahiga, freddiew, and kevjumba. They each make thousands a month in Youtube royalty checks. Meanwhile, there are no Asians on soaps. It's no wonder Youtube isn't interested in soaps which refuse to recognize that demographics have changed.

The good thing about the Prospect Park news is that somebody was willing to do it. It didn't work out, their plan was crazy and they weren't the right people, but it's nice that somebody (and probably several) was interested. We all know soaps are viable if done correctly, even Passions was successful on DirecTV which just used that show for subscribers. Soaps are still viable and can work on cable. It's just we need people passionate who are willing to try. I think the outrage when AMC and OLTL were canceled made people open their minds and pay attention. Now we have the success of Soap Classics, which hasn't even started distributing those DVDs in stores yet. Then look at the success of soaps in primetime. Revenge is one of the most successful new shows and it's 100% soap opera. Lots of shows are, and not the hybrid type of Desperate Housewives.

Then you simply can't deny the success of OLTL. I KNOW people are taking notice. I strongly believe the rumors that NBC was interested in the show. You can't have a million talk or game shows. The success rate is limited, ratings are much lower and the customer loyalty isn't there. Now a deal may not be able to be made, but I DO believe people are trying for OLTL. And if it's a tv deal who knows how many more actors would stick around.

I bet it's going to be an interesting time for soap fans.

Maybe PP wanted to make an attempt at a different demographic? who knows.

I don't think the idea PP had was as crazy as people say. Other than the size of the wallet involved, why is streaming AMC online insane but Netflix streaming Arrested Development a sign of the future and a stroke of genius? Maybe Netflix could have made a go of OLTL and AMC? PP needed financing. Netflix, at least before the jerk CEO tanked the stock, could finance Fort Knox.

I don't think moving online was crazy; it's the sign of the future for programming most likely. The crazy thing was trying to use the exact same expensive TV model to put online and not using a subscription model, and expecting the finances to work. Maybe in the future that might work great, but it's a little too soon to expect mainstream-sized audiences.

So where does this leave PP in terms of developing in-house shows for TOLN? Is TOLN DOA, or just without AMC and OLTL as their flagship programs? They could certainly pull off a show or two with cheap, non-union labor/desperate actors willing to go fi-core, churching it up with reruns of their cable shows. I'm just interested to see what kind of lemonade these guys are going to come up with here...

I think OLTL could've done very well opposite the new DOOL, which I find excellent. But even (or especially) now, any soap on NBC Daytime has an extremely limited life expectancy.

Online is the future but we're not yet. And I also think the format, and canvas, would need to change dramatically.

The hate I see everywhere for PP is beyond stupid IMHO some want Jeff & Rich to crash & Burn. As per the LA Times these guys saw that TOLN wasnt gonna make it so they went to google & hulu to take thesse shows and air them but couldnt come to a deal. They didnt have to do that. When they lost investors they went to silicon valley. They didnt have too. They didnt want to give up. Just like PP cant force actors to sign, they cant force investors to invest. At the end of the day they need to do whats best for them and I truly believe PP wanted this to be successful. This was not a ploy

I just have to say this. Stop being a god damn Prospect Park apologist. You don't know what you're talking about. If you know "Jeff & Rich" well enough to refer to them so casually you surely know that their reputations precede them in LA. That LA Times article is a bunch of PR drivel that rearranged things we already knew.

"They didn't have to do that"...are you sure about that? Are you sure that's what their investors, if they even had any, didn't put a first-look clause in with Hulu or Google? And interesting that the Hulu/Google allegations, not facts ALLEGATIONS (until I see a press release from either company saying they declined Prospect Park it's all bullshit) only spring up so late in the PR cycle as everyone takes aim at Prospect Park.

Prospect Park is throwing blame left, right and centre. They are supposedly some sort of martyr in all of this? Nonsense. They didn't communicate with the talent they signed, attempted to blame unions that never left the bargaining table, attempted to slander Susan Lucci after giving her the silent treatment when she wisely insisted on a year commitment for AMC online.

The hatred towards Prospect Park is well placed. They started this venture without the capital necessary to get the deal done! Nobody in LA does that! It's insanity. They had delusions of grandeur and while I am sorry for OLTL and AMC fans, I have nothing but happiness that this has failed for those two, they deserved to have this blow up in their faces because they went into this venture without honour and without money. It's a disgrace.
