It's nice that OLTL has posted such impressive numbers, but when did HH and total viewers ever matter? If that was the case, CBS primetime (and daytime) shows wouldn't get the slack they get. ABC is all about the demo, so while I'm glad that OLTL is going out on a high note, it's meaningless. It's so unfortunate that this wasn't the storyline that was finishing off the show on ABC - it would have been a great launching pad for PP. I'm so hopeful that both AMC and OLTL find success after ABC, proving that the soap model is not dead after all.

Doing a Ratings Reflection report...WOW. OLTL is up in EVERY category year-to-year (the only daytime program up) and lifted ABC to an 11% increase in households compared to the year-ago. The show was up 24% in households, while GH/AMC were up just 6% and View re-runs were up 5%. OLTL beat The View in every category. OLTL is up double digits in every category, while the View is down double digits in a number of categories.

* thru 8/12

With all these gains, OLTL only beat GH once in the 18-49 demos for the week of July 4th.

Despite having the highest 18-49 last Wednesday, the show for the week couldn't topple GH out of 2nd place. That data is why I don't believe Frons is upset at all.

I honestly wish this were true, but I don't think they'll really care. The new shows prob won't do as well but will get similar numbers (as bad as they seem) and cost a fraction. It's obvious they want out of the soap industry, and unless suddenly OLTL started getting Y&R numbers, I don't see them even really blinking.

OLTL has mastered the art of 'stupid but fun to watch' and RC, by not taking the show too seriously, has turned love in the afternoon into fun in the afternoon. Sometimes, OLTL feels like a soap pariody as opposed to Y&R efforts at drama.

No soap grows this much during the summer, much less a cancelled soap, and I wonder how many former ATWT fans are watching. As I mentioned last week, everyone laughed when I said OLTL would surge in the ratings within one year. RH is certainly part of what's going on; however, the show has been trending upwards for a while. I so want OLTL to beat B&B in HH next week.

WTF is happening with Y&R? It feels and even looks like a different show. Am I seeing budget cuts in action or is this the new EP at work? Also, they need to hire a new casting director. Sam is a bore and Y&R hasn't done a good hire since Adam. Even JF is working my last nerve.

The loss of Guza hasn't changed GH one bit. I saw a good episode last week but am otherwise bored.

A parody? A SPOOF, a farce certainly describes this Todd story. I expected Irene to twirl her moustache like a comic strip villain. Oy vey.

btw, GH spiked up big time during the summer during VM's original return in 2002. And DAYS also had some big summer gains in recent years I believe.

My question is what the hell is OLTL going to do when Trevor leaves, pretty much effectively ending the Tale of Two Todds? I know RH has his fans(I actually like him) but the draw to the story has been both men. If you go into the One Life discussion thread, there's rarely any mention of the other stories. I know I personally groan during scenes not dealing with that story and will be done with One Life at it's conclusion.

I hope for the sake of the ratings, the other storylines on the show start to get a bit more interesting to sustain these highs.

Re: PP / financing…Sorry by the time I got back to the thread it was closed for replies ….

They have big financing anyway…but also they got some kind of grant or something for media on the internet; I have it on our network and DayTime Confidential has it too I’ll have to dig it out Prospect Park was launched in 2009 so they’ve been around for a couple of years already…I just believe this was all in the works for a long time….
