GH: Discussion for the Month of August

I think SB was right in that is was a gift to be given Jason Morgan (Jason Q was way too preppy), but the sad thing is his new direction became a rut.

True. "Jason Quartermaine" was preppy. No question. However, an actor with real chops would have taken that character, no matter how inconsequential he was to the show, and made even the throwaway material sparkle. Writers always gravitate toward actors who can make something out of nothing. If Burton had been capable of that, I guarantee they would have done a lot more for him as "Jason Quartermaine" without resorting to brain damage.

This!

At this point, I'd welcome a recast for Jason. I don't care how long Steve Burton has been in that role. Heck, they could keep him as "Jason Morgan" if they wanted to. Just bring us someone who can act.

Leo Julian died in 2009. Yes, he was a Nightshift character, but he was also on GH before/after. He died during toxic balls.

Thanks. I stopped watching for a period of time in 2009. I never pay attention to the background of whose getting paged anyway. They were paging Monica when she was away at the spa/medical conventions. :P

Greg Nelson and Liza Colby were the preppiest preps whoever prepped on AMC and it didn't harm them one bit. They even made sure their iZod shirts had the collars turned up just so. Preppy is just as legit a character type as any other I think, and there is a lot of story to be told about what goes on behind the perfect closed doors in Land's End, USA.

I thought the only doctor to die during Toxic Balls was Dr. Andy Archer. Leyla Muir was the other medial victim.

Again, though, the actors in those roles made all the difference. Once Larry Lau was no longer Greg, and Marcy Walker no longer Liza, the characters drifted off into oblivion.

Oh god, that would be an easy way to write her out. But it looks like they're doing that by destroying Abby and Michael, anyway. I feel like there's a reason they didn't sign her to a contract.

Just watched last Friday's credits. Tyler Christopher is still on contract. Is Nikolas making appearances?

What? I had him last airing in the end credits on 07/29 and I watch them every Friday slowing FF through each set and I didn't catch him readded. This is the ABC airing end credits.

Oh and did anyone else notice yesterday that the background speaker said "Paging Dr. Julian. Dr. Leo Julian call 2502"....He died in 2009.

I think we are confusing two Night Shift characters. Dr. Andy Archer played by Ron Melendez died during toxic balls. Leo Julian was played first by Dominic Rains than by Ethan Rains (Dominic was the only one who appeared on GH). Leo hasn't made an appearance on GH since 2008.

Forgive me. I'm slowly getting back into GH. What are "Toxic Balls," exactly?

It was a horrible S/L GH did for February sweeps 2009. It was seriously bad. It was referred to as the "Biotoxin Crisis". I shudder just thinking about it! It's called Toxic Balls because, unknowingly to the doctors, a patient was smuggling bio toxins in his body (WTF!), & when the doctors were doing surgery they cut into the biotoxin balls and it spread around the hospital. The promo for it was so good:

But it was crap IMO. LOL. It also brought us Robin putting her baby in a damn tree e8099.gif

That awful caterwauling at the end should have tipped us off.

This was also the debut of Rebecca, Emily's twin who had been sold at birth by Paige (ugh!) and who mostly went around wearing a black crochet thing and smacking gum.

For me, it would have been Jason Thompson's oh-so-serious line delivery. He's so hopelessly wooden, he makes Ronn Moss look like a Method actor.

WTF! That was the actual premise for that mess? I didnt even bother watching it bc I remember thinknig it was a rehash of the epidemic that GH had just done 2 years ago and couldnt believe Guza was already copying his own plot
