This is kind of off topic but I just read in the new ABC SID that Lenny Platt went to

and took the bar exam to become a lawyer. Wow, did anyone know that? I sure didn't.

He actually wrote some of the early LA Law episodes. The classic "Spanish Butterfly" conversation between Stuart and Ann was his work. They tried to get some of that dialogue in the Nate/Dani porn scenes but NBC wouldn't agree

Atleast you agree that he doesn't look around 40 cause I thought you would be with everyone else saying he looks around 40. 19/20 is about what he looks like even though he is 25.

I mean if it's in a totally hypothetical world, where she didn't write Y&R during the years when GL most needed rescuing, she wouldn't be so bad. Her tenure was the last when I regularly watched Y&R; after she left I fell off as a viewer.
I just see her as Bell's protege who was meant to take over when he retired. I connect her so strongly to Y&R. But she was a good HW.

Beautifully stated. The actual moment Brenda hears Lily is pregnant you can see both VM and MB almost collapse in pain. Brenda did immediately start something up with Jax 10 minutes later, but it made sense. She knew it was over (for the moment obviously). Sonny's conversation with her is actually really great. MB was good back then.

It's not exactly the dialogue being wrong it's more the phrasing being confusing. Like Gabi saying I have known Theo since high school. So it becomes vague like you've known Theo since he was in high school or you went to high school with him? Or when Cat said Aaron was out of town which I think implied while Sophia was pregnant? It's almost like they don't finish entire thoughts on screen.

I also don’t believe that stuff about her. Do I think she doesn’t take any crap and is direct? Absolutely. She’s been acting in soaps since the early 1990’s so she has seen it all, and I have never seen her checked out. Now I don’t think she has ever gotten to that angry grit that fueled SJB’s Carly, and they never really tried to write her that way because it wasn’t working.
I don’t think Valentini likes drama bts, and wouldn’t put up with it from her. Especially now. I don’t think anyone has any real power at GH bts except for Frank Valentini. The days of Maurice or Steve throwing their weight around are long gone.

I really hope it's not the former. Even if the dialogue doesn't always make sense, the script writers still work very hard on those scripts under the most impossible circumstances. Allowing the actors to ad lib would be insulting.

Rita Lakin was a wonderful writer. I think she and Rick Edelstein were the best writers TD ever had. If she had been willing to take on GL, I think she would've done amazing work there, too. But I also think she told some interviewer once that writing for soaps was hard work and that it never allowed her to spend enough time with her family.

Exactly. Of course, whether those loose ends were tied up satisfyingly is always a matter for debate. (Personally, I thought "J.R. Returns" was okay enough, but "Dynasty: The Reunion" just reminded me why the series had to die). But I agree: KL's finale brought everything to a nice close. What more needed to be told?
