"Never one to mince words?" Really? Because to me ES has always seemed like the word-mincing type. Other than her speaking out about Higley I can't recall her being particularly vocal about anything. I would describe Vicky Rowell or Cady McClain that way but not ES.

Whatever. As long as people start speaking the truth. ES already signed with PP so at least she's fairly safe from any ABC retribution. I guess they could take it out on "Viki." (Say hello to Llanview's newest lesbian!) Is Viki getting any real airtime or story now?

I don't see her that way either, mostly because she doesn't seem like the personality who just has to speak their mind to show us how honest/with it/etc they are. But I will say that when I go back and look at some items over the years she's more critical than I realized - for instance, at the time Gottlieb began airing short term stories like the one about domestic violence, Slezak very strongly criticized it to SOD.

Erika Slezak chooses her moment carefully and always has, but when she lets loose it's pretty cold. She's apparently been very, very candid in her fan newsletter for many years, and she was very salty in an interview she did for the Museum Of Television & Radio a couple years ago. Susan Lucci (who I also adore) she is not. She also tore into the show during the Rauch years when he dismissed Robin Strasser, going so far as to shred Tina's character when it was suggested that Tina was a viable replacement for Dorian on the canvas. It wasn't that she didn't love Andrea Evans and Tina, but she felt the roles were utterly different and was pretty harsh about how Tina could not compare to Dorian as an arch villainess.

They should look into DVDs of the shows, even if they do end up with a cable network. That's a market not work overlooking. Start out just Manufacture on Demand like Bravo did when it started selling it's shows. Then they got an exclusive deal with Target.

I love you marceline, like...I really, really love you. But it BUGS ME SO MUCH when people automatically shoot down the "soaps on DVD" idea with the "it's too many episodes!" argument. Releasing soaps on DVD doesn't have to mean releasing every single episode! In the UK, Coronation Street released a very successful set of DVDs where they picked 8 episodes from each year to put in a set. As a matter of fact, the 90s sets were just released this past week, and I'm sure those will sell just as well as the 60s-80s sets.

For our soaps, they wouldn't even have to go all historical/chronological with it. They could do "The Best of Erica Kane" or a nice set of DAYS Christmas episodes. It's frustrating as hell that no one who can make this happens seems at all interested in making it happen.

I think its because we all tend to look at them the same way that they package PT show seasons but I think your idea is great. How about the days when soap weddings used to be so huge you could package a DVD set of the weddings of the top weddings over a time frame or you could even package storylines I suppose There used to be someone a while back who on the web sold dvd's of certain characters or couples over the years. I dont know how successful they were but I know a friend of mine bought the Jenny and Greg series of DVD's from that site that told their storyline from start to finish.
