I don't see any AMC fever. I see a lot of people hoping for the best but nothing I'd call a fever. OLTL on the other hand seems to be causing something akin to malaria or syphilitic dementia.

I'd love it if PP would decide that since the OLTL status quo is good then there's nothing to lose by taking some real risks with AMC. After all.this company was supposedly considering the development of a new soap before ABC put a bullet in these two. But it seems like they just want to follow in ABC's footsteps. AMC is definitely a fixer-upper but if PP isn't willing to put in the effort then I'd just as soon they cut the show and actors loose. I'd rather see that than have Valentini turn Agnes Nixon's Pine Valley into Porn Valley.

But is the status quo good for OLTL? I'd argue not, since it was canceled just the same as AMC. I think reinventing both of these shows would be good and I think it will happen. In fact, has to happen on some level because not enough of the actors will be coming on board for either show, in my estimation.

Not interested in either show being turned into porn, but I do think they are going to have to be a bit more spicy if there is any hope of bringing in new viewers.

That was me and me. I started suggesting Wendy for Kendall on message boards back before we even knew what an Alicia Minshew was, but after seeing her on OLTL last week, I don't necessarily feel that way any longer. She's matured and grown grittier in a way that I don't think is right for Kendall as we now know her. Now I see her more as a kick-ass Cramer woman, a no-nonsense Kelly, a (too young, yet) still exotic-looking Blair, or a tough ass Cassie had she not lost her marbles along the line.

The problem is someone's idea of sexiness. Sexiness comes from emotion, buildup, subtlety - not found on most of today's soaps. Often today on soaps sexiness is presented as waxed and greased mouthbreathers raping or possibly raping drugged up or mentally ill women who don't know where they are. Either that or "vixens" who have more work done than Phyllis Diller.

Unless Wendy's grown a lot I can't see her being able to play any of the vulnerability a Cramer woman would need. Her forte was always sneering and spitting out her lines.

I thought Wendy had a great spark that was perhaps better suited for the Eurotrash banter and whatnot. When the stuff with Roger got too heavy (like, you know, him trying to kill her), i think that's when we lost what made her Dinah special. I remember SOD praising her, her first scenes in particular when she arrived at the airport and hugged and greeted Vanessa and Ross like she'd originated the role. I thought she was a lot of fun in the beginning.

I think OLTL is pretty much ready to go kind of like a pre-lighted Christmas tree. Just pull it out of the box and plug it in. It's in NYC so there just aren't that many options for soap actors. (Kelli Giddish being the obvious exception. I swear that chick hasn't stopped working since the day she left AMC). FV is staying on and has now graduated from Tom Riddle into Voldemort. I wouldn't be atall surprised to hear that RC is staying with the show. I think they'll work that out.

AMC is a total fixer upper. Lucci or no Lucci, they're looking at significant cast attrition whether because of actors like AM who are ready to try something new or the vets like DC and MEK who are just ready to retire. I think the move/commute to CA burned a lot of people out and they're just not in the mood for another round of "Trust us! This'll be great!"

I agree with you on the show's having to spice up a bit. But my guess is we'll see that in the form of harsher language (Oh what I wouldn't do to see Bo Buchanan or Jesse Hubbard finally get to look at another cop and say, "What the [!@#$%^&*] were you thinking!") or increased violence rather than nudity. Maybe we'll finally get to see some drug use. Ryan and Greenlee spending their evenings sucking on a bong would explain a lot and does anyone think Jessica Buchanan isn't snorting coke on a pretty regular basis?

According to Cameron Mathison on his FB there are things to announce but he's not sure what he can and cannot say. He's implies that it's "GOOD" stuff just not sure what that means. I am always the optimist for the most part so I am just going to sit back and wait. PP really seems serious about both shows and I have to put my faith in that they know what they are doing.

My preference would be an edgier show, but I don't think we need any nudity on these shows. Maybe better sex scenes, since daytime is all but chaste these days, but at the same time I wouldn't want the limits of the actors to be pushed too far. I know that's not the reality of Hollywood, but I'd hate to see AMC or OLTL change too radically in that direction.

I know people talk about FV turning OLTL into a porn or whatever, but I would never have even noticed the shirtless guys, if I didn't post here. I almost always FF the Ford brothers and I simply don't find (most) shirtless men all that titillating (yes, I'm straight). I've seen people on certain message boards act like having Steve Burton take his shirt off is akin to finding the holy grail and I just don't get it.

Oh Lord. If he's on board with PP, I'm happy for him. Sad for me, but happy for him. CM seems like a nice guy, but Ryan has been such a jerk these last few years. I just hate the way he goes around town acting like a wild eyed sheriff in everyone's business.

    • I'm not that impressed with the costuming, still very hit and miss, not much improvement and some of the outfits for Nikki in particular have been awful. Maybe Mariah's secret is she encountered Ian and killed him? That might work except for the fact that her mother has done the same thing.
    • Ana Alicia was far more dynamic and charismatic than McGeehan or Vernon though. Some of it due to the writing of course, but not all of it.
    • It actually felt like TM-G was a bit softer in her scenes with nu-Ted that kind of matched his meeker energy as Ted on Friday. I was very curious how she’d play off him and now I have my answer.
    • My thoughts exactly! Fantastic find @DRW50!
    • That was interesting; thanks. Courtney looks tired and/or bored AF, LOL!
    • 5-12   Lord have mercy.   I'm not sure how I feel about it. Perhaps what I said last week or the week before last. If the highlight of a soap is what people are wearing and not the writing, that's not a good thing. And that was how I was feeling watching this. There was not anyone that I was interested in seeing in the episode outside of Daniel and Sally tbh. Because Daniel continues to be the only thing that humanizes Phyllis for me.    I could care less for the Billy/Sally scenes where he's woe is me. I could care less about Kyle/Claire since the writers took all the drama right out of the pairing. Humanized or not, I could care less for Giggly Heffa.    I barely care for Teriah. But for me, it's nice to see something going on with them. Though it seems so horribly contrived.    I liked the costume designer appears to be trying to find individual styles for some of the characters. For me, Tessa's with the boots stood out given her indie musician history. It seems like Claire's style is coming into its own with block colors. I like Kyle's wardrobe is loosening up somewhat. I even loved the striped dress that Phyllis had on.    But again...where is the writing?
    • It was reported that Jane Wyman absence in the final season was due to health (it's documented that Jane was diabetic) but I believe her episodes being cut was a budget mode move. Similar move Dallas pulled in 1990, it was reported that Barbara Bel Geddes retired due to health (it's documented that Barbara had a heart condition) but I say salary dump. Jane Wyman only acted once after Falcon Crest, a 1993 episode of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, but she lived another 14 years after that. Barbara Bel Geddes did not act again after her last episode of Dallas in 1990 but she lived another 15 years after that. The trifecta of suck at Lorimar was Les Moonves, Leonard Katzman, and Michael Filerman. It was a pattern across all three CBS primetime soaps in the off the rails plus budget mode era to salary dump the long-time female cast members and bring on sweet young things hired on the cheap.
    • To be fair, more than half of them are dead now.
    • Kat may be a privileged elitist but that's not entirely true.  Kat first met Eva when Eva was snooping at Nicole's desk, so Kat's first impression of Eva wasn't very good.  Plus, Kat's instinct to not trust Eva was 100% right.  Kat's attitude toward Eva had nothing to do with Eva not "bowing" down to Kat, and her feelings toward her half-sister is very justified......minus the making fun of Eva's clothes of course.
    • They said that this has metastasized to his bones, but the type of "aggressive" prostate cancer he has is actually very common and is treatable, or at least manageable. So the headline is misleading.   Apparently this type of cancer is hormonal which makes it somewhat treatable? But still, of course, sad.  Thinking of him and his loved ones.
