I watched OLTL religiously from 1968 to 1983. I find it amusing (well, baffling, really) that complaints about the writing would arise "en masse" about Gordon Russell. From 1968-72, with Agnes Nixon a

My favourite picture of Dr. Dorian Lord, reminiscent of Ms. Ruth Warrick:

EEEE! Thank you! smile.png

I just watched Max & Gabrielle's final scene together--GOD, that kills me. It also kind of hurts to hear him say he'd go after Luna if she were still alive--even though Gabrielle was with Bo, I'm not convinced that Max wasn't in love with her. I think he was, but let her go for Bo.

And hey, he moved back to Argentina once Gabrielle was gone. Coincidence? I don't think so!

And I used to watch Max's wink at the camera over and over. sad.png

I love this storyline! I wish more of it was posted. I know Dorian's side of it is, but not Tina's. And later, Asa and Tina had to work together to save Kate and Cord when they returned to get treasure. Those scenes must have been awesome, I love the idea of Tina and Asa working together.

Thanks for sharing those wonderful OLTL episodes around Max's departure. I remember watching around that era. There was a lot of bad press going on because long-running characters and actors like Max, Gabrielle, Al, Hank, Rae, Renee and even Sam were being dropped from contract to retain the bevy of younger actors. I am happy that he got a formal goodbye, which is more than could be said for many veteran performers in his shows on other soap operas. To me, it was clear that there was still so much for Max to do. Alas, so is the curse for aging pretty boys.

God, Tracy Melchior was so [!@#$%^&*] terrible. It was like they'd let any [!@#$%^&*] in the door because Gina said no. Kelly could be a lot of things, but Melchior was inept at exhibiting all of them. Completely unrecognizable as the character.
