Speaking of cleaning house, UU will also kill off two characters in the same episode: Nuray Gülek, played by Turkish actress Lilay Huser since December 2024, and Stella Neumann-Goldberg, played by Bettine Langehein since October 2022. Both will die in early July, but in separate storylines. Stella is pushed down the stairs by her own mother, Patrizia (Miriam Lahnstein), and later dies in hospital, while Nuray dies of an illness – assisted by Dana, her daughter-in-law.
It’s not really surprising that Nuray is being written out, especially after both Irene and Anna Weigel have returned. Nuray, her son Ferhat, and her grandchildren Esma and Baris were introduced as the surprise Turkish branch of the Weigel family in late 2024 (see here: https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/27994-german-soaps-gzsz-uu-awz/page/64/#findComment-1963880). But now, with Irene back, there’s apparently no room for two "mother figures" on the show.
And of course Anna likes to keep it in the family. After marrying her first cousin Paco about ten years ago, she’s now falling in love with Ferhat, who is also a distant cousin.
