Doris Belack, one of those great New York actors that played a judge many times on Law&Order and SVU too IIRC. She will also always be Rita to me, the stand in for Gloria Monty in Tootsie.

Always interesting to see Joe. I had no idea Dorian was after Joe.

Just last week someone asked me if that role was based on a real person. So fun. The role, that classic reveal scene, the whole fracking movie, not only soaps but gender-bending. Knowing that the genius that was Monty also was a tyrant, though, she is probably a nicer EP.

Thanks.

How is it that Peter still has that Allo Allo accent in the December 1976 episode but does not in the May 1977 episode? Did he go to the no-accent clinic we saw on GH last year? Was that whole thing just Frank Valentini honoring OLTL in a way we never appreciated?

Nice to see a Pat episode from this time beyond the truncated Daytime to Remember installment from around the time Kevin was born.

I loved OLTL dearly from 1968 to 1983, but the issue of Peter's accent was handled in an incredibly stupid manner. One day, out of the blue, he announced that he was living in America now, and should adopt an American accent in order to fit in better.

It was, like...WHAAAAT?

That is NOT how accents work.

Since the change happened overnight, it meant his Americanized way of speaking was an act Peter just decided to fake. Was he intending to use an artificial stage accent for the rest of his life???

It was so stupid. I wonder if the sudden termination of his original accent (which was, admittedly, weird) was mandated by ABC or something.

Peter's accent was never mentioned or heard again, so I guess we'll never know why it was written out.

There is another '75 episode on YT posted several years ago, IIRC (with Tom Berenger, Kathy Glass and Ellen Holly as well as Dorrie Kavanaugh's Cathy Craig).

    • I don't think Chelsea has a true label just yet. She's just finding out she has an interest in women. I think the awkwardness is aligned with the character as we've seen. This is the fool who keeps filming her family when embarrassing things happen and live streaming it. I actually think it's refreshing she isn't just jumping into a relationship  and that they're playing the beats of her trying to figure out who she is.
    • Wow, do I agree with you. Chelsea is coming off as ridiculous. All she does is look for a woman to date while not caring about her business at all. That she's bi is great, but they're not writing her like she's bi. She seems to be lesbian. Yeah, I know -- "no labels." I just don't find the writing for her story to be anything other than awkward.   -- I hope we get some diagnosis finality with Bill's trip to the hospital. I don't want to see these trips to the ER every other day. -- Naomi is going to blame herself for Bill's health problems? GMAB. -- Ashley doesn't read as a real nurse in the slightest. -- Another day, another rinse and repeat conversation with Derek and Ashley. YAWN. -- Kat is making mistakes, but she's fun to watch and listen to, regardless. -- I still think the Joey/Vanessa/Doug gambling story sucks. I know Doug is deeply in debt, but I don't like him acting this meek and submissive.  -- I'm not sure what Joey's plan was from the beginning, or why he had to seduce Vanessa at all to get his way. I'm not sure what Vanessa ever saw in Joey -- why doesn't he give her the ick? -- I'm fine with a story where Doug and Vanessa take out Joey.  -- The fades to commercials were pretty bad today.
    •   Victoria's house (that she long ago lived in with Billy) burned down (I think Aunt Jordan set it ablaze?). Victoria briefly moved into the ranch after the fire, with Claire, Johnny and Katie, I think? Mariah and Tessa and baby Aria had been living in the tack house but they bought a house we've never seen and moved there. Victoria, Claire, and Cole then moved into the tack house as soon as Teriah left. I guess Victoria's children Johnny and Katie would live with Victoria at the tack house eventually? But Johnny and Katie went to boarding school during the school year. Not sure if we'll see Johnny and Katie for the summer vacation or where they would live.
    • Victoria’s previous house burned down.    And I know why characters frequent Crimson Lights 3 times a day for brownies, muffins and empty mugs:   THERE’S PCP IN EVERYTHING.
    • Today was a good episode, and the week for that matter. I think they've also done a better job with background music. The scenes in todays episode weren't as silent as they usually are in the background and it was noticeable. I think the show has found its groove well and I'm still invested.
    • Garneau was in the Liberal party and his riding was in Montreal. He was the first Canadian in outer space.
    • I agree. I really have enjoyed this story from the beginning. I feel like it needed the time for us to care about Doug. They've done a nice job of explaining his motives and making me care for him. I still feel like he's doomed and Vanessa will end up being a widow and now I'm invested in that *not* happening now that I've fallen for him. Friday was good but so was the entire week. I think they're doing such a nice job of keeping things moving. We got good movement with Bill's story this week, Chelsea is attempting to date, Andre and Dani are having tough conversations about their relationship, of course Anita reunited with Sharon. There is *so* much going on and I didn't even cover all of it.  I wish all of the soaps would take a page out of BTG book and start rotating their stories. I love that everybody is getting a chance to shine and they don't just sit on one lead story to the point you get sick of it.
