Just read Her Stories and then re-read Llanview in the Afternoon, which I know was discussed here ad nauseum when it was released many years ago. It’s easily the most important document about the rise and fall of the genre. Such a treasure. I was struck at how “c’est la vie” Melissa Archer was about what happened to the show in the 2000s. It’s didn’t come off as apologizing for Frons, etc., but more an acknowledgement of the inexorable forces at play beyond the show’s control and making the best of a less-than-ideal situation.
