As I've said before, a lot of actors are primarily (and understandably) interested in their own character and airtime.

They often don't watch the show or read entire scripts. So their view is colored by that. As long as they are prominent , in stories that challenge them in some way  and are treated well by TPTB they are content.

Meanwhile, viewers might be screaming in frustration.

I do wonder how much is down to personality in cases like Erika Slezak. She still had a good run under Gottlieb but that wasn't enough. A number of men on the show at the time had very unpleasant reactions toward Gottlieb, including allegedly throwing furniture around, but some of the reactions from Erika and others in the industry (IIRC Marlena de Lacroix used to call her Linda "Dirty Dancing" Gottlieb) makes me wonder if they just did not get along with her.

Late August '91. Nicholas Walker's Max, already fired and last airing in a matter of weeks, tells Lee Ann “I promise this Max will not take much of your time.” It can't end soon enough! The accents, the fey mannerisms, the well-cooked ham. What an ordeal.

I don't recall any intel on whether Gottlieb wanted to keep Yasmine Bleeth longer than '93 before she went off and conquered cable - I would assume so, I thought they were pretty gung-ho on the Lee Ann/Jason saga for awhile. But wow I am tired of this gross Max thing with her and the endless scenes in which she mopes around and passive aggressively begs for his declaration of love.

I'll wait until Vee catches up to fully comment on September 10, 1991. I did roll my eyes at the use of Cassie and Dorian's inner monologues. Knots Landing did that to death around this time. Anyway, it did clear one of the items off my wish list.

You don't need to do that lol. These episodes are over 30 years old! Just go for it.

Okay, well, I'm hoping that we're finally done with Max & Lee Ann, since she's got to be getting mighty close to conceiving Duke with Kevin.

I also loved how Dorian's scenes were, "I should get laid." Then she has a fantasy (to "Enter Sandman"!) about Jason*, only to have cold water splashed on her privates when she realizes he's Wanda's nephew.

*This appears to be where the photo of Dorian and Jason on a motorcycle comes from.

Jason was all over the place in this episode, from the Banner loading dock, to Wanda's Place, to Carlo and Stephanie's. And without much time in between. Boo, OLTL! You're better than that.

That is hilarious.

Max and Leeann carry over to when the original Max comes back..and Luna feels guilt for crushing on him while he's with Lee Ann.

If I recall, Malone eventually stops the Kevin/Stephanie story and puts him in LeeAnn's orbit with Jason as her friend.

@Vee Yasmine did opt to leave when her two year contract was up.

Well Sydney Penny said after Santa Barbara she met with OLTL about taking over as LeeAnn  but that ended up scrapped and SP ended up as Julia Santos on AMC

Also This showed up in my FB memories today
