Why not? Wasn't Kyle Lowder dumped from B&B a few months ago?

Yep. He was dropped too recurring late last year and he's barely been on this year. I can probably count his appearances on one hand

Oh i didnt know....Bradley Bell give him a call!!

No one mentioned JHC speech to the cast and how they were safe and just rumors?? I guess they made a fool out of her too.

Do you all remember The Home Show that used to air years ago? For some reason I can't shake the memory of that when we discuss these new shows. The idea that they are not by any means "must-see TV", if you miss a day, no big deal (though it looks like The Revolution is going for a low-commitment "serialized" format by following a person's journey over the course of the week). But such shows to me are more like background noise garnering the occasional "look-up" from stay-at-home mom Mrs. Nielsen #417 while she's cutting coupons, or from Joe Schmoe flipping through Highlights or Time in the dentist's office, or from poor seniors wasting away in front of the tube in nursing homes across the country. No one is going to make it their business to tune into one of these "hot new shows!" on ABC daytime. They will sustain steady enough numbers to be considered a success especially when coupled with the fact that they are cheaper to produce. Meanwhile, JD Roth isn't coming that cheap and kiss asses are more likely to throw their money at Tim Gnn and Mario Batali than they would to Lucci, Slezak, or Strasser.

Pretty much. First Frons claims that audiences (more specifically women) aren't finding the soaps exciting enough anymore. Then he kinda says that the audiences for his shows all suffer from lack of life guidance and weight issues and so will be much more pleased with these shows than the soaps. What he seems to completely, spectacularly miss is that the people who loved their soaps, and maybe were dealing with those issues either would get the info from some other show or source anyway, or aren't going to, they're not gonna suddenly take to these.

I read the official descriptions of both shows to my mom and she said "in otherwords they're about nothing, and the network has no idea what the concepts are". Pretty much.

Add in AMC and that's pretty much exactly how I feel. I actually have a lot of respect for the Bell shows, though maybe not in their current form, but aside from a few classic scenes, I've just never gotten into that super "beautiful", hold that reaction shot for 4 mins rhythm they have.

I grew up on the CBS shows and even ATWT more or less did the beautiful thing. Even the ill coma victims wore perfect make up. I do wonder if the focus on high production values has helped the Bell shows in terms of ratings? I don't buy the time slot issue and can't think of any other reason for Y&R's higher HH numbers.

On another topic, I'm wondering why OLTL got more time than AMC. I'm guessing this must come down to cost. OLTL almost has to much notice--not enough time to chart new stories yet too much time for a wrap up. Expecting a painful eight months. I give Frons credit for at least being honest here as opposed to Bloom over at CBS where they pretended ATWT had a chance after the cancellation of Guiding Light.

I realize we've all belabored this point by now but The Chew? Really? The hosts are going to have say that in sentences like it's a noun everyday? "Welcome to The Chew! Here at The Chew! Take time to...enjoy...The Chew!" That goes down like a 12-inch dick.

Yeah, every time I read "The Chew", I keep thinking chewing tobacco and imagining 5 hosts sitting around a table View style, mouth full of chew discussing various topics & instead of coffee cups, cups to spit in. I can see the tagline now, Grab your spit cup & enjoy The Chew!"

I do remember. Doesn't The View now occupy that slot.

OK, do you remember when a doctor was on The Home Show as a guest and was giving flu shots to the hosts and used the same needle?

I mentioned The Home Show a few times. ABC certainly tried with that, and it failed anyway. That's why I don't think these will be any better.

Too bad they got rid of Episodes, they could plug these shows the way they used to plug Home Show.

And you know, Mrs. Nielson #417, Joe Schmoe, and the poor seniors...NONE of them are the hot and hip youngsters the soaps were torn apart relentlessly for. The soaps were mutated in a hysterical effort to attract younger viewers, yet they replace the soaps with these shows? What the hell, man. That pisses me off right much.

So, basically. This mysogenic son of a bitch thinks that all the women who watch soaps are fat and lazy. Go to Hell you c u in tea! You're not exactly a size 28 yourself. What a load of s!it.

I'm willing to bet if OLTL had been moved to LA instead of AMC, it would not have been canceled with AMC today.

Yeah, but can you imagine vets like Erika Slezak (Viki) and Robert S. Woods (Bo) relocating? That's the $64,000 question.

"It's hard to envision Erica anywhere else but Pine Valley," Frons said.

Apparently, he wasn't watching those years when Erica lived in a New York penthouse apartment.

 Meanwhile, hearing a mother yell for her daughter "Activia!" across a grocery store would pretty much make my life.
