Why not? A steady paycheck for one is good enough reason. The roles in daytime are dwindling up and primetime is a tough beast. If they are offered something on GH, Im sure many will take what they can get bc there are still bills that need to be paid and they dont have the luxury of just turning down roles and choosing what they want

I know Scotty lives around here and maybe a few others do too. But, I think it would be good for all of us who are in each other's viewing area. To meet up and protest at our local ABC affiliates.

I feel so bad for all of the actors & crew on both shows. I know AMC was actively taping this morning & then this news comes along and was told to everyone...wow

same here and there will be ripple effects throughout the industry. For one, ABC SID is most definetly getting canned now. With just one soap, I see it merging with CBS SID and relaunched as Soaps in Depth to cover the 4 remaining soaps. They will get rid of alot of people with overalapping responsibilities

What if she actually did know and they asked her if there was one last thing she'd like to play that she hasn't gotten the chance to after all these years and you spoilered fans know the rest.

But seriously, they would not DARE kill Erica. No way. They might stab us but they won't twist the knife like that. And in a groundbreaking move, CBS will attempt to obtain the rights to the Erica Kane character and will in an intriguing storyline cross the character over on all four two CBS soaps. Unable to secure the rights due to ABC's unwillingness, Lucci will reprise the U/5 role she played on CBS daytime drama Love Is a Many Splendored Thing in 1967.

As we're compiling comments... here's a transcription of Robin Strasser's hotline message. Sorry if there were typographical errors I typed this out in real time as she was saying it. I did spellcheck it though.

I'm devastated... this cancellation was long rumoured but was it denial or... the object appeared smaller in the mirror and I was blindsided - I really hoped that Michael Logan had not gotten the correct information though I did say on the hotline that he is spot on, he's not one to say something that he isn’t absolutely sure about. I wanted to go with another estimable writer's version: WHAT WHY? WHY WOULD THEY BE SO CRAZY as to cancel these shows, its wacky! Apparently Wacky won.

I heard about it, talk about Irony, from a writer on the internet, somebody I’m not going to mention his name cause I didn’t get clearance who has his own website and following and they, they were the ones who told me, wanted a quote from me about the cancellation and said wait, I know nothing about this please call me and the email turned into a telephone conversation and when I hung up I really had a hard time choking back the tears, you know how that is, and the unthinkable has been thought of and been put into action by people who I'm sure think they’re doing the right thing, I'm not going to lie to you or anyone else that I think what they're thinking is right thinking, no way, and furthermore if this was coming g from Detroit for instance and they were closing down a factory that employed, I think up to 600 or 800 people are associated with putting on a continuing drama, if that news were coming out of Detroit it would be very seriously handled with the gravitas that it deserved. May I say after 40+ years in daytime it seems symptomatic of the symptomization that is liberally applied to daytime television soap operas that is passed as being acceptable. Way back when Carol Burnet would make fun of soaps (beep someone’s trying to reach me I'll find out who it is later) it's symptomatic of that and were we a factory making cars or cardboard boxes instead of professionally produced scripted storyline it'd be handled with the consideration and the respect and perhaps to those whose hands will not easily be washed clean of the blood perhaps some form of humility. and you know something everybody cause you all know me so well, I picked up the phone and I was going to say something neutral and positive... well, how long's the hotline been on? There’s no monitor here, nobody saying hey hey hey tone it down, shift into a different gear.

I will promise you this, I got a call well after the news was broken to me by the writer and it was from our EP Frank Valentini who seemed of great and powerful, let's go and finish this up we have seven months lets kick butt storyline strong... you know, the big finish cause that’s the kind of guy FV is, and probably the only reason we are on the air as long as we were is that FV was the EP and he kept cutting it, and yes I was one of the whiners and welpers OMG my salary cuts so deep I can’t afford to live in my house blah blah but the universe kind of said HEY STUID, that’s the universe talking to me not to u not to anyone else, YES I could be stupidly self absorbed it’s all about me and now look its going to be over for everyone. Now I feel terrible about the discontinuance of storytelling. Storytelling that is scripted and professionally done. Reality TV is all scripted anyway and nice honest people will let u know that that are doing reality shows well the script and this and its produced very carefully and na na na. All of that is scripted story from the kardashians to tori spelling to my favourite show that was rumored the host Jeff that was flipping out but frankly I don’t know what I'd do with Jeff, his assistant and his housekeeper but I really... I - Oh well. Thank goodness I love real estate

I'm going to be in LA, I'll answer that. As it was, doing this show, I was having to dig into my savings to remain on a soap in New York and now that's all taken away... Hello!... So, I will move to LA. No doubt. Weather's better, living situations will be more conducive I have health issues that will be better taken care of and I have a son there. Oh, I have 6 dogs... I forgot my family I was so into myself.
