Y&R: April Discussion Thread

That Nick/Phyllis scene at the end of the show was interesting. Then the other day he seemed overly concerned about Sharon and he keeps having "moments" with Diane. I swear, I really think they are going to do a quad.

Loved Sofia today. Neil is probably right that she has doubts about getting married, but he had a lot of nerve.

I liked the Ashley/Diane scene too. If Ashley only knew...

I have to say I really love the character of Leslie & I like her with Niel. Is she on contract? Cause I really hope they keep her around. I wish they'd drop this boring Malcolm/Sofia/Neil triangle they have going on, and just go with Lesie/Neil.

OK...Letterman just had Eva Longoria on. Of course he made the obligatory wise cracks about soap fans, but she talked about Y&R and they showed a clip.

Anyway. Today's show:

I hated the cut of Diane's dress more than the color actually...with her coloring, she pulled it off, imo. But the change in her hair was so an ATWT blunder and ATWT had only like .25 cents for their continuity budget. What's Y&R's excuse? It was jarring and weird. They probably filmed on different days - but I'm half wondering if she got her hair cut and they re-shot the stuff at the top for some reason??

I just don't think they are building the Diane and Nick thing very well at ALL. Why would she still extend any kind of olive branch to him when he's been nothing but a douche bag to her? I want to strangle TEVN. I really don't like when any man has that 'controlling' dialouge. And he called her 'rather thoughtless and reckless'. EFF YOU...pot calling the kettle black much? I thought Diane gave up the goods a bit too quickly as well...she should have let the old goat tell her what bug crawled up his a$$ and died instead of assuming it was about her very innocent conversation with NIck.

I thought Tucker and Ashley's reaction to Diane's 'hello' was kind of funny and unexpected. I just wish Diane said more...but then, I guess it was more about the message.

And sorry to any residual Phick fans... that last scene was nothing but good ol' Nick being HORN-to-the-NEE. Then there was some weird and strange mouthing of words that I couldn't make out, but I think might have been 'sorry'... or something.

Ta Da!

I like Diane with Nick. I think he has extraordinary chemistry with her. But he's also being a snotty ass in the way he treats her and I am ready for Diane to school him and flounce off. Because really. Who does he think he is taking out his aggression against his dad on Diane and then being all "Let's build bridges via Noah" to Victor?

On another thread about "Overrated Characters," lovely_m had the best quote about Chloe and Billy:

I had to bring it over because I seriously hate Chloe more, even, than Carly on GH. I am honestly dumbfounded that a character so shallow, so meanspirited, so bullying, without an ounce of humor or any redeeming qualities whatsoever can be considered a major Young Heroine on the show.

Yes, Jana is plotting something... but to constantly harass her, break into her home then harass her some more, try to get her fired from her JOB, try to turn the entire town against her... how is this in any way funny? Or payback for Jana's supposed "crimes"? I almost did a happy dance when the police came to cuff Gloria and Chloe. I wish they'd ship them to a prison out of state to serve out multiple sentences for fraud, blackmail, murder (in the case of Gloria) and breaking-and-entering.

That's exactly why I can't fathom a relationship continuing between Nick and Diane. Nick is being a Grade A prick to her simply because she wasn't standing around waitin' and hopin' he'd change his mind and un-dump her. He knew from the minute he propositioned her that she was his father's ex-wife. Treating her like dirt because she didn't inform him she'd slept with Victor is just a bit hypocritical since he's been known to cheat on every wife he's ever had. Multiple times. It wasn't ANY of his business who or what she did after he dumped her. Some act like Diane was sleeping with the Newman men similtaneously. That's simply not the case. Comparatively for GC, she's been a model of upfront behavior and chastity.

I'm sorry, but Sharon Case sucks playing "devastated" or "shellshocked". I LMAO the other day when she needed the help of two men to get off the witness stand. GMAFB.

I thought Dansby's dialogue was an upgrade from the usual Y&R doublespeak. Unfortunately, there's not much she can do for the insipid plotting.
