Highlights for the month of May were Sasha’s mysterious death, Sharon meeting Cassie, Michael being up for parole, Ryan being a two timer while Jill got Nina a gym membership(!) and Dru agreeing to try to have another baby but secretly started taking birth control drugs.

Those episodes are *so* good. I loved the story with Nina where she was down on herself because Ryan wasn't interested in her and Jill told her that she'd let herself go and got her the gym membership to try and save her marriage. It's so wrong, but you could tell in her own way that Jill legitimately wanted to help. I don't even think 1997 is considered to be a great year, but t even Bill Bell on his way out was so entertaining. He left the show in great shape for Kay Alden.

I wasn't fond of 1995 - 1997 to be honest. Still better than what came later, and late 97 until Bell's retirement was far better and I really like 98- 99

On another note - I am also confused with the Dru story, I just watched an episode from 1994 or 1995 where Olivia tells another doctor that Dru is suffering from a condition that would make having another baby 100% impossible. Did she get magically cured or something?

No, Jeanne was sober by the time MTS stopped talking to her (Jeanne went to rehab in 1986). It's a very weird story and only one that MTS can tell because Jeanne didn't have a clue.

Agreed. Both were so important to the show I realize it would have been very difficult to get rid of either of them, but that kind of behaviour is just unprofessional.

I agree. I feel like the show really lost its way (in relative terms) in the mid-‘90s. The decline started IMO in ‘94 (a bit of an echo from the other CBS soaps, who also started freefalling creatively around that time).

Speaking of which, I wonder if it’ll be addressed in Melody’s memoir. Just saw the release was pushed to August. Edit: saw @Paul Raven asked the same question.

Yeah true. Almost around the time Josh Morrow came on board. This was around the time the Jack Vietnam Vet story was getting under way, which I thought was better suited to John and not Jack, just seemed ridiculous to suggest Jack ever served in Vietnam, his whole character to that point was classic silver spoon. Also the Rick/Blade story which I was not a fan of, even though I liked the actors in the story, Brenda Epperson nailed that whole storyline as Ashley.

Thank you!! I was looking through your February episodes to see if I could find it as I thinking it was Feb. Did she even make any return visits later on in 92 or 93? Always been curious why most places cite 1993 lol.

Agreed! The best thing that the show did as the story reached its denouement was throw Jill into the mix. Walton and Diana Barton’s  Mari Jo stole the show from that point on.

I remember Leanna disappearing without any explanation in early 1992 but Barbara Crampton remained in the opening credits until that summer I think. I don't remember Leanna returning until 1998 during the Victor/Diane divorce.

    • I understand what Lois did. I can see everyone's side, even if I don't agree with them.  That  proves it's a good story    Lois is far from ruined
    • Oh wow. Thanks so much for sharing!!!
    • The character of Lois has been ruined and trashed. There's no coming back from this mess. The current production and writing team have had no idea as to what made her special to begin with. She had a bit of moral fiber. Her treatment on the show is not atypical though, as most characters will get trashed, even beyond redemption, if it serves the current flavor of the month plotline.
    • No idea if this one had ever been up before or what the exact date is, but it's always good to look at/save the new AMC content while you can. If you're here for the drama there is some delirium with Adam and Erica about 10-12 minutes in.

    • I think there's a story to tell in someone who always believed in honesty and integrity being emmeshed in so many lies, but I agree that it wasn't very well laid out over the last few months. I think if I was more invested in Lois, I would have more of an issue than I do. Few can hold up against Jane. This is one of those cases where I think mentioning who already switched babies or have long-lost children would just take away from the fallout. If Lulu wants to drag Brook Lyn for hypocrisy there is probably still time (if the show bothers). I don't think anyone would claim these are the best GH episodes ever. It may be very lowered expectations at play. But I do think that scenes like yesterdays were some of Tracy's best, as she is a character who is often not allowed that type of moment.
    • You would think that, wouldn't you? I'd almost think they needed the money to get Robert Newman back, but they also had to know Larkin wasn't going to stick around and play second banana either. I don't get what the writers thought they were doing with Calla. Long liked using actors from Texas, but other than Alex/Bev McKinsey, the characters she wrote for them seemed blah.
    • Bo has a bad history with kids named Zach. (too soon?)
    • Christie said in her interview this week that she recently started taking acting classes again, and has been doing some work in England, so that helped her to jump into Carrie for this (as well as it being all so familiar, it really was home.)
    • Andrea Barber aka Kimmy Gibbler did have a few scenes with Drake too, when he first came on. Christie came in the middle of that storyline
    • Carrie, as played by Andrea Barber, was at Bo & Hope's wedding. She was the flower girl. The ringbearer was Zachary Parker, the little boy that Megan tried to pass off as her and Bo's son. Andrea's Carrie was at Tony & Anna's real wedding (Aug. 5, 1985). She appeared for the last time on March 21, 1986. Christie's Carrie debuted on April 14, 1986. It appears that Carrie remained in Salem, just off-screen, during that near-month. Christie picked up with what Andrea had been playing, apprehension over John.
