February 17, 1989

Jack pushes Chase to go see Ms. Fenmore about some campaign (maybe the Men of Distinction campaign???).

He goes over to Fenmore's and speaks with Lauren who is pretending to be filling in as Ms. Fenmore's secretary but is then busted by her own employee who comes in to hand her some documents.

In a you’re fired-I quit scenario, Brenda Dickson has left the role of Jill Abbott on “Young and the Restless.” Her replacement is Jess Walton, last seen as Kelly on “Capital.” For months stories Dickson’s set-side tantrums and storming off the set have been rampant —charges which she has continually denied but that continued to be bussed around the industry.

Evidently “Young and Restless’” Bill Bell -the show’s executive producer, head writer and creator —was unhappy with Dickson’s recent portrayal of the character. In an official CBS statement Bell says, “We have artistic differences in the intrepretation of the character ”

One source says getting wind of this Dickson decided to exit before she was asked to leave. However an eyewitness claims Dickson refused to play as directed. After a small shouting match, Dickson left the studio. Calling back an hour later to say she was not going to return, Dickson was told that was fine, since they had no intention of having her return. As for Dickson, she is not talking at this time. As for her storming off the set -if true, and from all reports it appears to be — that is considered an insult to fellow performers and an amazing waste of money for the studio.

Deborah Adair, who portrayed Jill when Dickson left the show several years back and who has replaced her when Dickson was ill or unavailable, is now unavailable herself. About to be married, Adair has decided not to make a longterm career commitment. As for Walton, we hear her co-workers are delighted. Walton plans to give the once poor now powerful Jill a different slant

I'm not suggesting that EVERY thing that Brenda Dickson has said about BTS life at Y&R is true, but looking at that particular situation through a post-#MeToo lens, I do believe some folks at Bell/CBS/Sony were out to get her.

I always wonder how his wife MTS got along with Brenda. After they married, she decided to be the queen bee in that hive and even started snubbing Jeanne Cooper.

MTS didn't mention anything about BD in her book from what I remember. She acknowledged the beef w/ JC but didn't delve into details about it.

As for MTS being a queen bee, here's an example.

MTS served up some queen bee attitude in her segment. I can only imagine how she behaved at the CBS after party.
