Stumbled upon this  recent Tonya Lee Williams Interview. Very insightful, and she gets pretty candid about the issues the show had around the time she left. (and most likely isn't that anxious to return unfortunately)

Welcome! Thank you!

Do you know if there are any episodes of Guten Morgen Mallorca available anywhere? I haven't found any.

I guess these Y&R episodes were already available, but they were recently put on Archive.

I’m reading these weekly recaps from 1983 that @will81has been posting, and all I can think is, “GOD HOW I WISH WE HAD THESE FULL EPISODES TO BE ABLE TO SEE THIS ALL PLAY OUT!!!” I especially would love to see Lauren’s first few appearances, the complete Patty shooting Jack storyline, Brenda’s first month back as Jill, the scenes where Nikki confronts Eve and Julia (separately) after finding out about Victor’s “death”, and the full scenes where Lauren orders the sundae for Traci and in turn Traci dumps it on Lauren’s head! Can’t wait for the rest of the recaps! Thanks again @will81!!!

Like it’s such a shame that it seems that episodes from 1983 are very very scarce. I’ve really only seen one full one and that’s the one where Patty shot Jack, and that’s already in the vault. I hope more surface someday, it truly was such a great year of the show. My favorite year, besides 1979.

Yay!!!

In terms of cast charts I have completed 1987 and just need to do a few bits of cleaning up. Unfortunately we don't have many end credits from Aug - Dec 1987. In fact there is only one cast list for that time and it is from the Nov 25 ep.

This means I have no idea when Michael Corbett, Kate Linder or Quinn Redeker moved to contract status and I had to guess. For Michael I moved him after two 13 week cycles from his first 1987 appearance in Feb, so he moves on in Aug. For Quinn and Kate I chose October. Pretty sure they both went on the week of Sep 28 - Oct 2, just a strong hunch. I assume Kate is permanently on contract. At least she is still there in Sep 1988.

Catherine McNeal (Janet#2) was also on contract but I don't think Maureen McConnell ever was. The change over occurred Oct 7

Frank Bernard and Barbara Crampton I assume were on contract from their first appearances. It is obvious Beth Maitland and Scott Palmer were also on contract when they returned, since they both appeared Nov 24, 1987 and the cast list is from the next episode.

The only other major change was the departure of Sally Sussman. She was in the Nov 25 credits but not the Dec 11 credits. So she left the show sometime between there. Since there were barely any credits I didn't bother doing any writer director lists from Aug onwards.

This also means the only non-contract players listed are those I know. Also I will do January 1988 since we have those episodes and that will complete everything

I also have done the top 10 appearance counts for 1987 as follows

Thom Bierdz (Phillip Chancellor III) 156

Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott) 156

Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) 148

Lauralee Bell (Cricket Blair) 146

Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor) 142

Melody Thomas-Scott (Nikki Reed Newman) 142

Terry Lester (Jack Abbott) 131

Tracey E. Bregman (Lauren Fenmore) 122

Tricia Cast (Nina Webster) 118

Don Diamont (Brad Carlton) 114

Even with Brett Porter's 9 appearances as Jack, Terry would not have moved. I also did Brenda and Jess' totals 73 for Jess and 67 for Brenda making 140. However I believe if Brenda had stayed she would have scored higher, but probs not too much more. I didn't realise Lauralee was already besting Terry Lester in 1987. So I am very curious now about 88 and 89. The second half of 87 or the 87/88 season, was definitely dominated by the Cricket/Phillip/Nina/Danny quad. Jill has become more of a supporting character to that story and has little else but the Rex and Skip stories holding her up. It is interesting how Brenda seemed like a star player and Jess seems more an ensemble, but I guess Bell was adjusting to the recast? Not sure. Again if we ever get full runs from 88 onwards, would be interesting to see.

I think yours are probably right.

You have Dec 24, 1987 German version which matches the US version. Dec 25 was preempted. Then there's four more episodes in 1987.  Your Dec 31, 1987 German episode has a New Year's Eve party.

Then according to a French clip on YouTube, Jan 25, 1988 is the episode where Nikki dances to "Jump Start My Heart" which matches what you have for that date. There are four more episodes in January.

Then, you have these two episodes as the 2nd and 3rd episodes in February 1988.  If those aired on February 9th and 10th, there would have to be a whole week of preemptions somewhere in that month, and I just don't see where that would have happened. There's an episode database for As The World Turns and they don't have any preemptions during that time:

    • Whoa. She should have fought like hell to get that. Was it the greatest show ever? No, but it had a fantastic cast and was practically guaranteed to last multiple seasons because of its star power. Could have certainly led to bigger and better things. If it had flopped she could have always gone back to soaps. Judith Light broke through on a sitcom where she was basically second banana to Tony Danza. That grew into a very busy and distinguished career. The woman is still regularly booked to this day.
    • I could understand her being frustrated by the fact that she'd been in the business 10+ years at that point, and probably couldn't even get in the door. But then again, she'd already gone out for pilot season once (that we know of) and she and  her agent knew a 35-ish woman had a very difficult time in Hollywood. I know she did a few guest spots, but other than Designing Women, nothing I saw--not even a Murder She Wrote, and that show had tons of ex-soapers on it. I mean, God bless Marilu Henner, but even having been on Taxi, she couldn't get arrested for years either.
    • I didn't rewatch that period, so I'm not really sure how much Bill is on. I recall something about him living at the boardinghouse. I think Van made Matt his guardian, and why she didn't name Josh would be a mystery to me, other than the HW decided they needed to keep Bill in Matt's sphere. Nola is also his aunt, although they don't know each other well, and Van wouldn't have trusted her anyway. There's Dinah---but she's unreliable. Billy gets out of jail around NYE.

    • That's on Kimmer. As someone posted above...she was offered roles in pilots but she would be part of an ensemble or supporting. She didn't want that so she came back to GL. I don't know what she thought would happen..someone offering her "Here's Kimmer!" or The "Zimmer Comedy Powerhouse Hour" variety show..but her housefrau fans did not have the same pull in HW as they did on the soaps. Forbes and Watros knew that you had to take small parts to get noticed ands start a career in primetime. I know she was in consideration for the wife in Evening Shade, but when you go up against Marilou Henner, the soap diva looses. I could see her frustrated in a role like that, where she has to be the understanding wife with a bit of sass, but she could have made it work, if it wasnt for her huge ego.  I think it would have been an issue haveing all the powerhouse comedy actors surrounding...(lets face it..Alice Ghostly woudl have wiped the floor with her...) but it would have been a good launching padd.
    • Oh good, so I don't have to wait too long haha. I'm glad she cares about seeing Bill graduate. I'm guessing I'm in for a bumpy ride between Bill and Matt, if he's going to be his caretaker? Who else could it be, maybe Josh?

    • Maeve makes a few sporadic appearances, but returns full-time the next spring/summer. She's back in time to see Bill and Michelle graduate, although she skulks around town and wasn't going to tell anyone she was alive. She comes back wearing this HUGE hat---which was a throwback to the old Vanesaa. lol.
    • Aww, yeah it's very heartbreaking and I mostly enjoyed the Nola/Vanessa scenes because they finally let their walls down and came together in a beautiful moment. So Nola was at the hospital already and bumped into Vanessa, who had MRI papers that fell out of her hand and Nola went down to pick them up and asked her what was going on. Later, Vanessa confided in her about her disease. Then, Nola told Zachary on the beach (he prodded her and already alluded to knowing something was going on with Van), and then Vanessa found out she told him and got a little upset. Now, however, Nola is strangely absent while everyone is mourning her death. I'm curious if Nola will actually tell people about her MRI results. I would assume so. Only Nola, Rick, Roger and Zachary know anything, although there is the MRI results letter from the mail that everyone has missed seeing at home. I'm sure it'll all come out at some point. But... I just saw the next episode and the opening already cut Vanessa out and added Dahlia and Zachary. I guess Maeve is gone for a long time

That will break my heart seeing the town continue to mourn her and assume she's dead. I can't wait to see her return though, and I have to imagine feelings will be torn between loving that she's alive and being very angry she did all of this. While I hate what Vanessa is doing, I'm happy to hear it's not totally against her character. I think you're right, had Henry still been around, she wouldn't put him through this. I'm still surprised she is with Bill, though. I get her feelings on Matt, because she wants him to move on, but still very heartbreaking. I'm glad this was Maeve's choice to have a break vs. being fired.    Interesting, so I'm curious to see who they eventually pair Phillip with. They're flirting with a Phillip/Annie pairing, but I'm not sure if they'll go that route with the Jeva drama, her growing pill addiction, and Rick's past with her.  Ugh, yeah I'm so sad to see Bridget do a total 180 in the last couple weeks. She has always been a strong character from what I've seen, but now she's just bending over backwards to get Hart to love her and it reeks of desperation. Yeah, sure, this new Hart is eye candy, but I'm already tired of seeing Hart/Dinah have sex all over Springfield and the Cayman Islands haha.
    • Yes.  I remember them together during the early summer of 1986.  They didn't share scenes again for 30 years until 2017 because Carrie wasn't on the show when Anna returned during Sydney's kidnapping.
