B&B: Ashley Jones dropped to recurring! Lloyd gets contract!

Status Changes On B&B

Soap Opera Digest has learned that Ashley Jones (Bridget, B&B), who has been with the show since 2004, is going on recurring status beginning in December. Meanwhile, newcomer Kristolyn Lloyd (Dayzee) will be upped to contract status in December.

Okay this one shocked me. Ashley Jones actually gets a lot of screentime, so I didn't see this coming. Only thing I can guess is that she requested this due to her success in primetime. If that's the case then I guess we can look forward to a new Bridget (or no Bridget) because it's only a matter of time before she books a regular gig.

As for Dayzee, not sure what to say. It'll be interesting to see how she fits in the show after this homeless story ends.

Well I loved liked Ashley as Bridget, I prefer Jennifer Finnigan in the role. Maybe they'll eventually just write her out. Bridget isn't needed IMO. Now if only they could ditch some others on the show, I still feel half the cast isn't needed.

Bridget has always been a worthless role -- as almost every role on B&B has been for many years.

Never cared for her or her romance with Nick. A huge problem with B&B is that they have very few characters that people care about passionately. It's no wonder the Brooke/Ridge/Taylor triangle has NEVER ended. And when they do find a new flavor of the week, they write the hell outta them for a couple months and then kick them to the backburner. I'm surprised she lasted as long as she did.

I wouldnt be too concerned. It just means they cant afford to pay her right now. She will most likely be put back by spring

Yeah, "recurring" does not always mean the same for B&B actors as it might for others.

Have to say, I'm not gutted.

I really preferred Jennifer Finnigan's Bridget, after her, I feel like the character should have just been ditched.

Agreed and she looks almost the same age as her mother, Brooke. I'll bet Dayzee ends up with Thomas and thus Stephanie's family. Granted, I like the sexual spark between Thom and Brooke--twisted but hot!

I've had my eye on her for a long time. IMO OLTL could easily snap her up to revive Sarah Roberts. They need a strong, known actress in that role.

I know this is shallow, but what the hey... her boobs always bothered me. When I'd see her in a beach scene in a bikini, they're so far apart from each other you could fit a whole other boob in between!

I think she is too old for the role. I liked her as Bridget but her age always bothered me. She'd be a better fit for Kelly had GT not returned. GH as Sarah Webber would be a better fit for her. Still on the west coast and with a better actress the character might actually be better than it was in the past

I wonder if Y&R would consider putting her back on the show as in recent years CBS has liked to shuffle its actors in between shows

Ashley just denied this on her twitter.

ETA: Apparently she has chosen for the time being not to sign a contract because she has other projects. This is her decision. The show didn't put her on recurring.

ICAM.

The role of Bridget has been ruined with Ridge & Bridget though in 2003. Jennifer FInnigan was the only saving grace in it but the character was pointless ever since. The romance with Nick could have brought it back to life but Brad Bell ruined it.

I assume this contract move is by Jones' request. She just signed on last December and probably now though she might try her luck in primetime.

Brad Bell propably decided to give Nick to Agnes and Amber. The show has way too many Forresters and boring doctor-turned-fashion designer-Bridget has been a disaster eversince Ashley Jones took over. Perhaps the show should have turned her psycho years ago, a softer version of Sheila. I hope Rick is the next to go.

As for Dayzee, she will be gone in a few months after dating Marcus and Thomas.

I don't mind Bridget, and I think that Ashley Jones actually has some chemistry with Brandon Beemer, as opposed to her lack of chemistry with Jack Wagner.

Anyway, best of luck to AJ as she pursues other career opportunities.

Aww! I loved Ashley Jones as Bridget!

Far better than that self-promoting, fake-crying elf Finnigan. AJ oozed warmth and sweetness.

Too bad the role was written as an after-thought. And pairing her again and again -- and again -- with that wrinkled peepaw Nick was just wrong on EVERY level. Good luck to her in PT!

Judging by Brad's latest interview with Branco (from Monday) the show tried to lower to Ashley's guarantee and that's why she decided to go recurring and really hit the auditioning circle...
