@Soapsuds Do you remember a Gregg Marx interview where he said that not long after he left As the World Turns Bill Bell offered him a part on Y&R but it was turned down? Given the timing, I'm guessing the part on Y&R was Dr. Steven Lassiter.

I remember that. He would have been very good on Y&R or B&B. 

I am still amazed at how much he fit into ATWT, from his first episodes - he clicked with everyone. This after not ever really getting a foothold at DAYS. 

I do think Scott eventually found his way in the role, for a while, but his early stuff doesn't do a lot for me (nor does much past about 1995).

I think the introduction of Lucinda gave her a rival, competitor, sparring partner- like a Dorian and Viki - even though the writing never kept up with these ladies. Also, I don’t think Lisa ever had the cruel streak that Lucinda could exhibit.

I think Lisa has moved past the villian stage long before Lucinda entered. She was town eccentric busybody a biting tounge, who Marland used to a great way to spread exposition to the rest of the town..creating a community feeling.

I never understood how Sheffer and Gautman did not know what to do with her...they needed someone in that role as everyone was so oddly isolated.

Interestingly, as much as Hubbard was used during Marland's era, Hubbard still felt "under-used."  She often spoke about her frustration as an actress that most of Lucinda's dialogue/scenes/machinations were in service to other characters' storylines; that Lucinda rarely had a story that was just about her. 

Do any clips exist of Justin Deas’s Tom and Lisa together? I may have asked this before, but it’s been a while, and lots of new clips have been added. Just would love to see how their chemistry worked, and I’ve never seen him in the “son” role.

Speaking of JD, I’m wishing him the best in his cancer fight.

I've heard this before about Hubbard and Marland.  But I don't quite understand it.  How many soap opera actors get a story that is just about her/him?  I don't even know what that would mean.  Every soap opera plot involves and affects more than one character. Soap characters never exist in isolation.  Maybe Hubbard just didn't realize exactly how good she had it while Marland was in Oakdale.

Great!  I've been watching for this obit.  I've noticed that soap actors don't get much attention in the NYTimes obits.  Anthony Herrera -- one of the great soap villains -- did not get an obit.  And neither did Elizabeth Hubbard -- which was shocking to me given her extensive stage and TV work prior to ATWT.  It took them about two weeks to post an obit for Kathryn Hays.  I think her "Star Trek" episode and marriage to Glenn Ford may have finally convinced the editors to include her.  RIP Eileen!

nice to see this — and it’s been a busy week, what with malcolm jamel warner and ozzy osbourn. 

now let’s see if cbs sunday morning can find a few seconds in ‘passages.’ historically they’ve totally ignored p&g actors who’ve passed — actors who were on cbs for decades.

There is a clip of them delivering the news to Margo at her shower that John "died." But its brief, and I havent seen any others. I get why they cast Deas as he has some of her "manic energy" but he wisely tempered that down and had enough Hughes in him to make it work. I just would love to see if he had any scenes with Wagner, but knowing the Dobsons, they probably didnt write any.

Thanks so much for this! I’ll look. The vast majority of his clips from ATWT appear to be with Margaret Colin, so I’d love to see how he fit within the canvas overall. And, yes, with Helen Wagner. Would be fascinated by what she made of his Tasmanian Devil energy.
